Could you give us some more details?

When you say tightening up the drive pinion what do you mean? Screwing it into the clutch bell? Not sure I understand.

1. Is the pinion cross-threaded onto the clutch bell?

2. Maybe the bearing in the clutch bell is not seated all the way in?

cross-threaded = mis-threaded. Sorry, I don't know how to translate this propoerly.

What I mean is - did the pinion get threaded into the clutch bell wrong?

The start shaft binds inside the pinion. What I did was chuck up the start shaft in my drill press and use sandpaper and file the shaft down right above where the lower bearing goes on it and all the way to the step in the middle of the shaft. This is the area that is binding. I have 2 gallons on the start shaft that I did this too with no ill effects. Probably took off not even 1mm of material.

In the picture below, the red area shows where to remove material to have it fit through the pinion without binding. The bearing will slide down and fit tightly on the non red shaded area. CRITICAL! Don't remove material from where the bearing needs to sit!!! This is just a temporary fix btw.

Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'

Thanks alot. That's fixed my problem. I chuck on the lathe and turn it down by about 1mm.

By the way, this is the second component off this heli that needed to go on a lathe for mfg error. The other one is the tail hub that is too short which lock up the thrust bearing once the screw is tighten...

After fixing the drive pinion problem i have found that the clutch bell does not run out evenly. If i spin the head by hand and watch the bell rotate i can see it rise and fall. It is inserted correctly as far a i can tell but as i had to work on the shaft to allow the drive shaft to spin freely...maybe it isnt.

My Head was also out of tolerance and have emailed the distributor for a replacement as per the website.I tried rotating the fly bar cage by 180 Deg. but with no luck. The fault was very noticeable whilst watching the heli spool down, you could see the head wobbling quite considerably and if you put your finger to the head button it was obvious it was not spinning true.

Sorry you are having issues. These are two problem areas that are being corrected and will be included in the Upgrade kit which will be available for Free sometime in October. Again, we apologize for these problems.

Thanks
