If it has a nipple on it, you want the nipple to point to the rear of the heli.

I have the nipple on the header toward the front and it works just fine also.

I position the header so the pipe is lower. If you flip the header and raise the pipe, you get some oil back flow into the engine on shutdown and leads to some starting issues.Jim Senicka

As you can see, from the answers provided, bottom line is: it does not matter. Some of the answers provided have a real explanation of the issue at hand, others are heli specific.

I mount mine so the pip sits higher. so on my forward facing engine, the header is positioned with the exhaust nipple facing forward. Gives extra clearance for a hard landing or any mishaps. Haven't had any issues with oil draining back in the engine causing a hydrolock.Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'

Make it so that the pipe is lower then the heli.
Sludge wont go back into the engine. (allready said)
And you get more clearance to connect your carb lever.

Correct the Mp5 50 SB and Mp5 50 do not use a header. The MP2/Mp5 90 sized pipes require the use of a header.

It does not really matter what way the header goes, but I would prefer mine with the vent nipple towards the rear of the heli.
