futaba HS 2.8 receivers blocking throttle jockey from engaging
Just a note to let anyone having problems getting a Model Avionics Throttle Jockey or Throttle Jockey Pro to engage using a 10c & a HS (high speed) 2.8 Rx: after MUCH back and forth with Kurt (what a patient & helpful person!) from Model Avionics I figured out why my Stratus using the TJ Pro would not engage...it was in HS (High Speed) mode. Once I reset the Rx to normal mode it engaged fine. I emailed Kurt with the problem and hopefully a fix will be made available. I also have the new program steps (again thanks to Kurt) for the 10c using a TJ that are not available on Model Avionics website yet.

I am glad to hear there will be a fix for it. I am running the exact same setup but in normal mode for now. I'd love the set up program steps if you have them. One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.

10c set up for throttle jockey
1. assign channel 7 to SW-A under the AUX-SW menu.
2. set the end points to 95/95 for channel 7.
3. make sure throttle channel (ch. 3) is at 100/100
!!this setting must not change after calibration!!
4. set up the throttle linkage to go from full closed to full open with the 100/100 setting.(initially I had throttle trim all the way down, but found I could calibrate with it up some as well - try it both ways if one does not work for you. You use the throttle trim to get the heli to idle when you start it) If you cannot seem to get it just right make sure it is as close as possible with 100/100 on the end points. Don't have 75/120 or something whacky like that.
5. Make sure the GOV function is INH in the advanced menu.
6. Turn on the Tx and as soon as the red & yellow light go out on the Jockey flip Switch A from High position to Low position & wait approximately 3 seconds. Green LED should now be flashing.
7. Cycle throttle stick from low (green) to high (yellow) and back to low (green) unless you have a super servo (digital) then you will leave it in the high (yellow) position.
8. flip Switch A back to the high position and green/yellow LED goes out (when throttle stick is in low position).
9. Make GOV ACT (advanced menu) and select SW-E.
10. A setting of 50% is govenor disabled (though on mine it is 51.5%. Default is 0% for up - change it to 50%.
11. bring throttle up past 25% and start increasing the percentage until you see the green/yellow light is lighting - you then know it is responding correctly.

Now put percentage back to 50% (disabled), start heli, put in SAFE place outside and raise throttle to about mid stick (zero pitch)and slowly begin raising percentage in GOV screen. The jockey will begin to govern the throttle. For idle up on switch E I left the jockey disabled and set up a flat percentage (always above 25) in case jockey failed (my percentage was (45%). Then repeated spool up, used percentage for idle 1 and brought head up to desired speed.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

I found this out about 4 months ago when I started testing the ATX SD10G. The TJ's don't like radios that update all the channels on every frame.

update to Throttle Jockey
Kurt at Model Avionics has this say:

"I've been out of town testing the new RevMax and TJ that is compatible with all rx's. I will post when it is done and will only ask for shipping to be covered to anyone that wants to upgrade to the new firmware. It will also have both the TJPro and RevMax in one unit."

Is this great or what? Koodo's to Kurt and Model Avionics!

Finally, now I don't have to write Model Avionics off my list of potential governors. It's good to hear that the new firmware will allow the unit to act as governor or limiter. I might just get another TJ for my Srimok90 coming next week. The TJ and Revmax seem to have a bit less overspeed than some other brands.
