This was taken at the Wings for Kids air show in Louisville, KY. Very impressive and about as real as it gets. Hats off to Bill for a great flight!

Thanks for the video. First or second time it's been in forward flight this year due to working on upgrades.

Thanks. I hear you have a huey project too? I remember you were eager to start one when we were at the Dalton event a few years ago. Most of my upgrades are just practical or maybe overkill stuff. I painted the blades because I was getting razzed about that . I upgraded the servos to 8711 and upgraded some of the links that I hadn't already changed out to those heavy duty Starwood links. Didn't turn out to be as straight forward upgrade as I thought it would be. I made bolts for the swash because I couldn't find any good off the shelf stuff. The 3.5 mm screws from McMaster-Carr I planned on using had a defect and the heads would pop off too easily. Glad I spotted that one by accident. The ball size on the links vs the bolt sizes are different. I made a little vice to hold those and then drilled them out to size (3.5mm and 4mm). Now I'm working on a second version of my rocket pod assembly to make it lighter. The helicopter is a bit heavy. Flying it with just the primer made me too confident in it's ability and less careful about weight as I finished detailing it and now I'd like to get a little dead weight off of it. But the 3 lbs of GI Joe are an easy target. I filled the back two full of holes but now all four will get a serious rework. The turbine always seems happy as far as the temps go but I can feel the difference in weight while flying it.

Yeah,I'm working on two,a BK 117 and the Vario UH 1D,I should have them both ready(less paint) for IRCHA and Dalton.Do'es the additional weight of the paint and pilots effect it's flying significally

That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Really scale look and sound. Looked like the real deal. Got any close ups of that build? Turbines are way cool. I got a chance to fly one of my buddys Turbine last weekend.

I am still smiling!

Great flyin also, nice and smooth.

It seems much easier to enter a settling condition than before. In fact, right before Rob says "I saw that" I had just exited that condition. But I just removed 100 grams from one of the pilots tonight so that will remove 400 grams across the four without changing the look. The two gunners and the rocket assembly are all very close to the CG so it's not useful weight. I think this setup with this rotor diameter is supposed to be happiest at 40 lbs or under and I'm a pound or two over. I didn't need to worry about anything adding weight to the nose. The thumper on the nose doesn't do enough to add weight. It is still fun to fly and oddly calming while still maintaining a hell of a pucker factor if that makes any sense.

Thank you very much. I posted my build photos on the dedicated scale forum but I forgot to post them here. I can get them up soon.

This kind of details level is what I want to learn and doing in my future projects. Off course with budget..

I'm told these scale projects never end. You just stop working on them. But I am working on that part. Other than scale heli guys, most don't seem to pay any attention to it. I had a former crew chief tell me my blades were not wide enough. I think I'll settle on leaving that part alone. He also said the windshield wipers usually didn't work. I said that is why mine don't either .
This kind of details level is what I want to learn and doing in my future projects.
This is my first scale project. I had been wanting to try to build one ever since I saw Len Mount's work. There was a steep learning curve but Dr. Tim and Al Wert provided a lot of tech support. I didn't know these guys too well when I started but they are top notch.
