Winter flying
What guys do you use for winter flying, say in a house in a basement? I just want to plan ahead.
HBK is too big for me except hovering.
4#3 - nice, but motor life kills. And it is not precise.
4G3 - looks to me much expensive, using good Tx
Trex 250? Gaui 200 or 100? - are they too big? Any experience?

No coaxials!

I have always flown thru the winter, as long as it not 20 below or 50 mph winds. The air is fresh and clean and the snow acts like a Giant pillow

20F I assume? I'm speaking of Winter!
You should have fingers made of steel anyway. Actually one time my HBK dropped of the sky on an ice - it broke like a glass vase. It was all plastic that time.

I think a gym is the only way to go Especially for anyone interested in 3D. You will find no matter what heli you get size wise your 40" flatscreen or whatever the obstacle you have in said room really keeps you from doing anymore than hovering. (Especialy if your married)

That said I just hover my TREX450 around my living room but its somewhat large 18 x 24 with 10ft ceilings with furniture enough to do some m5ft popups toolman piros. All my garage flying is off limits now that the garage is finished and my baby sleeps out there.

I am with ya Dougie but dang that nitro tuning is tough at 25F.
No Really I am the club President!!!

My bud Ken has the Trex 250 and the gaui200, had some issues with the 250, esc burnt up, gyro malfunction, but he got one of the first ones out, issues have been resolved as far as I know. He had fewer problems with the Gaui but found it hard to work on because of its size. At your skill level KV, you should have no problems with either. Check out the classifieds here, there are always good deals to be had. You should check out Nick Maxwells Gaui 200 Vid flying in his garage

Thanks Doug! Yea, I saw that video - this is amazing. I am thinking between TRex250 and Gaui 200. There are mixed reports on them, which one flies better. Although 'better' means different for different people. And I think it highly depends on setup.
The only I decided to stay away from 4G3 - just do not want to use crappy stock receiver and hard to justify to pay big bucks for the good one, but only for Walkera.

I scrambled around looking for something to meet my needs.
I don't have much room downstairs in my basement but I have an indoor warehouse at my work I can fly after work when they close up the doors. I already had a Lama V3 then purchased a 4#3b and a Gaui EP100 Pro (metal head/tail). I had lots of fun w/ the Lama and the Gaui. I did not like the 4#3b. I just can't deal w/ fixed Pitch I guess. It was not as stable as all the hype. At least mine was not. EP100 was more stable and did not wander on me like the 4#3b. I really liked the coaxial.

BTW, Xheli is having a sale on Esky stuff if you want the Lama:
10% off what they have on the website
