A Japanese venture company, Genepax, has unveiled a car on that runs on water. All it requires is a litre of water. In fact, any kind of water to be exact, whether its river, rain, sea water, or even Japanese tea. Its an electric powered car that runs solely on hydrogen dioxide.
"The main characteristic of this car is that no external input is needed. The car will continue to run as long as you have a bottle of water inside for you to add from time to time," said Kiyoshi Hirasawa, Chief Executive Officer of Genepax, after he proudly announced the company's invention.

According to the company, 1 liter of water keeps the car running for about an hour with a speed of 80 kilometers or 50 miles an hour.

^^^^ but but but, here in Ca. they say we are in a water shortage.

That just really isnt funny.. If this is true about this car, I can certainly see the price of water skyrocketing.

On another note, will it run on recycled beer?? If so, they could be onto something..

Water is such an abundant chemical compound in part because it has very stable bonds that resist most reactions. For water to participate in a reaction that releases energy, high energy compounds must be added. For example, it is possible to generate the combustible fuel acetylene by adding calcium carbide to water. However, the calcium carbide, a high energy material, is the 'fuel,' not water. Under conditions common on Earth, chemical energy cannot be extracted from water alone.[7][6] (It is theoretically possible to extract nuclear energy from water by fusion, but fusion power plants of any scale remain impractical, and no allegedly water-fuelled cars are claimed to be powered by fusion.)
There is essentially no stored energy in water to provide power. The car needs a source of energy other than water.

It's too late now. If you buy one 16 oz bottle of water at 99 cent then we are at 333 dollars for a barrel of water. 1 barrel is equal to 336 pints. Scary isn't it.

Too true... It really runs on something else. a reactive agent of some sort. Litium, sodium?... not cheap.

Anyone hear the story of "nail soup"?

Dang, I had to check to see if it was April Fools day.
I can remember as far back as the 60's various persons demonstrating a water only vehicle. Guess what, never see them again.
I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
