Been licensed several decades.

Can't be bothered with it today. I renew the license for old time's sake.

I may use it to do 900mhz downlink for FPV.

KA2YVW here. Used to use 2M all the time. Now I don't have any interest. Also fly 2.4 and would NEVER go back.

Dont play around anymore with Ham stuff but was ZL1TJB when I was a teenager. Got my Licence when I was 15 and had to sit a test in Valve theory and Morse even though I was already heavily into scratch building Transistor radio stuff.

If you are getting TVI or other interference from your neighbor, the best thing to do is talk to them about it right away, in a civil manner. The instant you hear interference, walk over and ring their doorbell. Waiting until later makes it harder to correlate which bands/frequencies, etc are causing problems.

Don't let this "fester" into some kind of feud. Any respectable ham will be eager to work with you in order to resolve the issue. But if you don't let them know, they probably are unaware that you are seeing/hearing anything as a result of their transmissions.

The use of the term "perky neighbor" indicates that either the ham radio issue, or some other issue is not being handled by one party of the other in a neighborly manner. I wish you the best in resolving this. Having problems with neighbors can be very unpleasant.

If you piss him off, he just might point his Moonraker directly at your house, and really piss you off.

When I was younger, I ran so much power out of my mobile, that I could open/close/control my girlfriends garage door opener. Pull into gas stations, and key down, and talk through the entire speaker system of the station.
That's what happens when you over-modulate creating all kinds of harmonics and sidebands.

N8IL here...

Licensed since '78. Got re-aquainted with the hobby last November. I love HF! I operate 60% SSB and 40% CW. The Rig is a Yaesu FT-950 with an RF-Space IF-2000 adapter and LP-Pan band scope. The amp is a classic solid state FL-7000 into an OCF Doublet. I have tinkered with RTTY, PSK, and Feld Hell. I've worked 100 countries since November. I also operate D-Star with an IC-2820 and DV-Dongle... The FT-950 is an awesome value. It's a software-defined radio and the software is field-upgradeable. One update significantly improved the CW experience with an "Audio Peak Filter." At the Toledo show, a fellow from R&L Electronics told me the lead time on the 950 is now 2 months. The receiver is actually better than the FT-2000.

I never messed with flying on 6M. Back in 2003, I did try FHSS in my Raptor 50 and MA Pro on 900 for a while. It worked well. I interfaced between the 900MHZ receiver and the Futaba receiver through the DSC connection and yanked out the 72mhz crystal. The transmitter was wired in through the trainer port. The experience was very much like flying today's spread-spectrum gear. The problem was it wasn't sanctioned by the AMA...
