OS 50 hyper stalls I think I'm figuring this out but want everyone else's expertise on this. I just got my 50 heli out after a winter hibernation. I gave the whole thing a good spring cleaning to include replacing all the fuel lines and checking on bolt tightness, etc. I flew a tank by just hovering and some easy forward flight. Checked the temp of the Hyper and it was only around 140F. So I leaned it down one click. Started it again and when I began to throttle up, it increased speed to a certain point and then just stalled. It was nowhere near fast enough to lift it off the ground. I checked a few things, pulled the glow plug, cranked the engine to clear out any old fuel or afterrun oil (although a burned a complete tank of fuel). Anyway, tried it again, stalled again. So I richened the needle up 1 click. This time when the throttle got to about the place it stalled before, the engine spit and sputtered for just a second and then went to full speed. I hovered another tankful. When I leaned it down a click, it stalled again. I'm burning heli fuel, 15% nitro, 20% oil. I'm thinking that I may have some dirt in the needle valve that chokes the throttle when I lean it down. But when I run it rich, enough fuel is getting by the needle valve that it will run. What do some of you think?Fusion 50, Pantera 50, Tiger 50 Walkera 4F200LM, T-REX 450 SA |

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I'll need more fuel anyway. I'm almost finished with that gallon. I'll probably pull the carb and clean it or blow it out anyway. So I'll make sure I check the o-ring and make sure I'm not sucking air somewhere. But the engine doesn't sound like it's going lean and I'm getting plenty of smoke from the exhaust. The temp is only about 145 and if anything I feel like its running rich. Anyway, I'll check the o-ring, clean the carb, try new fuel, and probably replace the glow plug. If that doesn't fix it, then I'll start looking for other causes. Fusion 50, Pantera 50, Tiger 50 Walkera 4F200LM, T-REX 450 SA |
