How to tell motor bad?
Since I am fairly new to the electric side of this hobby, how can you tell when your motor is starting to go bad? Are there any signs?
I ask because I have been noticing the power seems to be dropping off on my Blade 400 as I am getting age on it.
Running the stock motor with a scorpion 45 esc, gy-401/9257 and hs-65 servos +-11 degrees collective. Thought it may have just been my lipos getting weak with age, but a new lipo feels the same.
Symptoms are: On a full climbout it bogs MUCH more so than when it was new. When doing anything even halfway taxing to it, the headspeed decays.
Time for a new motor?Walk on water long enough, eventually you will get your feet wet.

If not a new motor maybe at least new bearings. You might try lubricating the bearings and see if that helps.

Other than seriously overheating the motor, which will damage the windings (and if hot enough, the magnets too!), there's not much to go wrong with a brushless motor.Gerry Cullan,
