Spektrum AR6100 on my 50 nitro birds?
I'm running a Spektrum DX7 and would like to read some thoughts on using the AR6000 and AR6100 in my 30/50 nitro helis. Most seem to be using the AR7000 but aside from one less channel and 2nd antenna what is the down side. I read about "shadowing" but that phemonmenon in overrated in my opinion. Any one have any direct experience using on on their larger helis?

Thanks,

KT

6 channels is not enough on a nitro bird.

3 cyclic
1 throttle
2 gyro
1 gov

I hear you Anthony...
Since I'm into mild 3D I could go with no governor or I could manually adjust my gyro to avoid to save on a 7th channel.

Thanks,

KT

I think they are park-flyer receivers, and on a 50 size nitro heli they won't take long to failure due to vibration.

The AR6100/AR6100E are short-range, park-flyer receivers.

The additional satellite receivers are there to improve reception. Your opinion that "shadowing" is over-rated may not be based in the real world, but simply a way to justify saving $30 or so on a receiver that is clearly inadequate for the application. Simply believing something isn't true doesn't make it so.

Vibration from a 50 heli will not hasten the AR6100/AR6100e receiver's death when compared to any other receiver. Their assembly processes and parts are no different than that of their longer-range 7 or more channel brethren.

Spend the extra dollars on an adequate receiver. The money you "save on a 7th channel" today will quickly be spent rebuilding your helicopter in very short order.

Let us know how that works out for you.

I wouldn't even use a 6100 in a 500, let alone a 50.

I tried using a DX6i on my Trex 600n. could not get anything right without the seventh channel. Had to buy the Dx7 anyways.

I use an AR6100 on my Trex 500 and haven't had any issues so far.

As far as range is concerned, I also use the AR6100 in all of my EDF planks...I fly them pretty far out and again haven't had any issues.

I'm willing to bet that everyone that posted here about not using it has not tried it themselves....and I'm not suggesting that you have to in order to find out either, just that I have.

BUT, with that said, I do agree that the safer option is to NOT use it and get at least full range receiver....I plan on putting an AR7100 on my Trex 700.

Just my opinion...

Do NOT use the 6100 in a nitro heli you WILL regret it.

I know of several nitro birds flying with DX6i's - they use either an AR6200 or an AR7000. You don't need 7 channels or a governor to fly nitro. You should definitely fly with a 'full range' RX though.

I hope you mean 6200's and not park flyer receivers.

you can run a governor with the dx6i I have a shuttle with an align gov and a gy240. anyway I ran the gov to the gyro gain switch since the 240 doesn't have remote gain. Then set the gyro gain to the idle up swith and it works.
