Hi Brendan

I decided to remove the head button.

In the 'old days' back in South Africa, i would have gone to my friend, Trevor, he would have just machined the button off and left a 0,1mm high circle of silver. where the button was.......

Well, I now live in an apartment in Dubai, with a hack saw, a Dremel and a drill. I slipped with the hack saw and messed up the blue anodizing.....so decided to make the whole top silver. #400, #600, #1000 and #1500 water paper and about 2 hours and the job was done.

I then was having a hard time with installing the dampers. I could just not get them in. I found the silver retainers too tight. More water paper and another 2 hours and i had remover the anodizing where the retainers go. It still left a very tight fit.

To make things worse, i had removed a little anodizing on the sides too.....so took the rest off the sides.

I only wanted to remove the button and ended with this.

Here is another photo, with the Burj in the background. It is the tallest building in the world..... or so they say. You can see the canopy in the 'nose high' installation position.

Regards
Paul

Hi guys

Just for reference. The other buildings are all 50 to 60 stories tall. The Burj is about 130.

That's impressive Paul!!! lot of work, I thought something looked different in your head setup!

Nose high setting looks pretty cool as well. It's hard getting the caps in tight with the Dampers and those small screws.

Did you drill the thread out of your blade spacers as well?

Hi Brendan

I could have just pressed the caps on....but they would then never come off.

No, i didn't drill anything on the blade spacers. Just tightened them on with a big allen key. I assume you are talking about the 2 bits either side of the blades!!!!

Paul

Hi Dr.Ben

I never did blame you for suggesting to take the head button off!!!!!
It was a hell of a job.

Only kidding.

I think my wife would kill me if i came home with a lathe and tried to store it under our bed or in the kitchen cupboard. Apartment suck big time.

Paul

Almost finished spraying up my Turbulence canopy, just got to lay the clear coat down now. The clear will bring out the metallics/flakes and candies that have been laid down, this is just the bare base coat.

Hi dan-uk
Thanks for the canopy. I could never have it without your help. Please also post the pic of the your Turbulence!! Did you fly your Srimok yet? How is it comparing to the Turbulence?
For the paddles, I ordered them from RC Advisor Champ in Osaka. They could get all the Hirobo parts that your want and mail to you directly.
Cheers!!
