I'm not saying that it is, but this sounds a lot like some of the symptoms that I was experiencing when I ran a 9254 on my gasser. I don't think that 47oz of torque for a tail servo is enough on a gas heli. It was always hot and just wouldn't hold like I thought that it should.I changed out to a Hitec 6965HB with my 401 and have never been happier. It has almost twice the torque and the speed is .08 on 6v and .10 at 4.8. It is a VERY noticable difference over the 9254 that I had been running. Hope you get it all sorted.Gas is Great Camper Fuel is Better!! QWW Helis |

and the carb bulb wouldn't fill!! One of the check valves is stuck so the pump doesn't work. Are you closing up the vent? When you close up the vent for long periods of time vapor pressure tends to screw up the workings of the bulb checks and the flapper valves in the carb so that doesn't pump well either. I don't recommend sealing off the tank for storage. It won't smell even if you are using gas as long as your storage space does not fluctuate in temperature greatly.Ace What could be more fun? |

in between usage I just pump out the leftover gas and leave it alone...usually with choke closed as I would have done so after shutting down.Is this an easy fix for a carb virgin or a new carb?I note davesmotors don't seem to stock wt-643's ? is that the stock one?.... they do list wt-644 or wt-603 and also a 257 which they claim has higher fuel flow/performance but no bulb or return line..Best choice?pgk |

Think I fixed itNot so scarey and not much one can do... took off the bulb side..which also takes off the white plastic mounting.. lifted out the red mushroom one-way valve under the bulb. Also had a look under the diaphragm..interesting weighting in the centre.. a harmonic function?Everything there looked clean and OK..but I flushed with straight petrol and blew through every hole I could find. The other side has what I assume you all call the screen... odd shaped fine mesh..looked clean but in one of the wells/holes under it there was a trace of fluffy debris..brushed out with a soft brush and petrol...re-assembled and the bulb fills. So I don't think it was faulty or worn.. just some piece of debris got past or formed in there and just clogged a channel?I'll find out tomorrow if it starts and runs...pgk |

.Started second pull after thoough preflight.. an uneventful pussy-flight of circuits for 9/10 mins.. still alittle tail issue but that's going to be a combination of retuning needed and 'I must geta round to the O-ring mod'Topped up fuel for a second longer flight and some instinct as about to lift off caused me to stop.. then while watching it spooling on theground the tail blades slowed down as something gave up in the tail box..hopefully just a loose gear....makes a change for me to have that happen on the ground. pgk |

What do you call a little tail issue, I get a little movement from mine, but as soon as it reverts to fast forward flight it is not noticeable. All it is in a hover is a very slight twitch of the tail, but it locks back on to centre and doesn't continue around, if you know what I mean....?KEVIN Trex 500ESP | Trex 600NSP | Trex 700 Gasser | MA Spectra G |

carpman,
the issue is caused by too little dampening of vibration between the airframe and gyro.
Add another layer or two of gyro tape, and the twitching should go away. |

wt644 has a bulb, and a choke and is the way to go if you change your air cleaner, from stock. left and right sway can be caused by to rich needles on low or high. and also if you gv-1 is set to low. Wally |

All it is in a hover is a very slight twitch of the tail, but it locks back on to centre and doesn't continue around, if you know what I mean....? Before the new tail servo it was a swinging type of tail.. now it's just a little flick.. and gyro is on zeal. Whaat's left of the tail movement I do believe is down to tuning on mine .. after cleaning out the carb yesterday it's bound to need some changes..which was today's intention until the tail let go..And I doubt it's as simple as the torque tube ends being backing out..if memory serves (it's been a while since I pulled preddie's tail) there is indexing both ends?..also it's got a tail mounted servo and that serves as a indicator of front end boom position and the back end has 2 lots of clamps (with the fin) and is solid..I'll find out when i take it apart.. not a big issues, just happy it happened on the ground.. and my first preflight of the day does include turning tail rotors while holding main rotors to judge how well bound they are; no skip etc.....but I'm hoping to do Spectras post rebuild maiden tomorrow so preddie can wait until that's finished.. just blade pitch range to set and GV-1 and 611 and final checkover and canopy grommets (all those little things where you can so easily miss something)pgk |

Hi PGKHope Spectra's maiden after rebuild goes OK tomorrow...I actually wonder if my final twitch, which to be honest is no worse than I get on the 700N, is the Zeal tape. As good as this stuff is, mine has turned to jelly in the heat here and the sensor jiggles about all over the place when you touch it...Might try the Futaba pads and plate just to see, but I am not that bothered as like as say once in forward flight it stops...KEVIN Trex 500ESP | Trex 600NSP | Trex 700 Gasser | MA Spectra G |

Reason for tail output failure - PredatorFinally took it apart. The torque is indexed both ends so cannot slip. The tail end torque coupler was slipping on the first stage gear shaft. I think the reason is that it's held by a grub screw through that into a flat on that shaft and it takes a longer than usual grub screw to go that depth and still hold it's locktight into the alloy collar around the nylon coupler. There's room for 3 such screws but only 1 flat.. you can only use all three if the collar is rotated to index with all three holes in the coupler. I had 2 effective screws with the third bottoming out against the coupler rather than going through. And the one onto the flat had backed out. It's shown as being an M4x5mm set screw. Now that I've had reason to look closely...that's too short. I found an M4x6mm in my bits box and even that is marginal. I did consider trying 2 grub screws stacked but the bottom one would only be in the nylon and i'm sure that would wear out. The collar doesn't have quite enough thickness to make a countersink and use a real screw cut to length with the head on a M4.If you've got the same setup then I suggest you check next service and perhaps try a 7 or even 8mm lengthpgk |
