after reading the info on rollover..
I would agree...

He clearly lands on some kind of uneven ground... or somthing.. the heli lands... shifts and lands again lower it is like he hit something... then all hell breaks loose

In life there is no spacebar!

He was landing on a cart.

The AS-350 (A-Star in the states or Squirrel in other places) is a bit notorious for being tricky to land...I have several hundred hours flying them and can speak from experience.

But yeah...that's a pretty good example of a dynamic.

They are less prone to getting ground resonance but it is definitely possible. Seems like there might have been a combination in that crash...a bit of resonance followed up with a rollover.

Ouch.

Still...they are great helicopters and very 'crashworthy'.

I'm sure you guys have seen that clip of the news heli going down in NYC onto the building roof and falling off and down onto another building.

When in doubt...auto out

Good God, it has nothing to do with dynamic rollover. It's simply ground resonance that induces a loss of control. As stated above, the A-star is squirrelly as heck. What happened here is a very rare thing, though.

I got a few hours a Eurocopter a while back. The guy let me hover it down to just a few feet off the ground, nice and steady, but he would not let me land it. Turns out it had weird leaf-springs on the back of the skids. He said if you don't set it down just right (on the springs i guess ) it goes wacky....

Yup...takes a good amount of aft cyclic to get a gentle landing. It's really crazy when you're a skinny bastard like me flying the thing solo...hovers and lands very nose high.

Great ship though.

Loads of power and a comfy ride.

Not real keen on that dang hydraulic pump belt (rubber band) though

When in doubt...auto out
