Been flying a MPXLE on 12s. Getting 6 min of flight time using all of Jan's recommendations.

So I'm wondering what's the big advantage going FBL?

First off i want to say with VBAR 4 its very simple, it is not confusing at all.

Now flybarless will enable you to fly at lower RPM and maintain same agility or more or less as flybar heli.
You will get longer flight times, the heli will climb straighter and not pitch up at all, whatever you tell it to do it will do it easily.
Also on very windy days when normally i would not fly with VBAR it does not bother me, it makes it easier to fly.

Its pretty cheap as well, sell you tail gyro and that can pay for part of the VBAR unit, the tail on VBAR V4 feels same if not better as spartan gyro.

Its the best choice i've made!

Maybe 30 sec.

But I did not get any increase really, only because now i do high speed passes and huge loops and stall turns and can do many continous tic tocs.

It really depends, if you lower your RPM etc and fly as per normal maybe upto 1min.

Helicraze, I have no experience with Vbar systems. I believe the newest version is the 4.0. By looking at your post, I believe you are saying that with Vbar you do not need a tail gyro, is this correct? I didn't pay much attention but I believe some of the people I've seen fly Vbar and use gyros... that's why I ask.

Yes its a 3 axis gyro, the tail handles as good if not better than the spartan DS760 gyro, it works fanstastic, the VBAR is about $450US + a head, so take away the $200US you were going to spent on tail gyro and its only $250, well worth it.

Now you don't have stock in Vbar, do you?
I really had no idea. I now wonder why other people have been using gyros with their Vbar system
Thanks again!

LOL, no.

I believe you may be confusing it with SKOOKUM, that it a 2 axis gyro and you need a tail gyro, it costs more than VBAR and is not as good.

I do not know of anyone using VBAR and a tail gyro.

Well, I guess I won't be needing the Spartan I had my eyes on then. That will save me some bucks, thank you.

Helicraze,

What parameters did you change from the standard VBar set-up? Can you send me a copy of you VBar set-up file that you currently use. I just did the set-up on my XLe and notice cyclic gyro gain is at 30. It seems low compared to my L700 gain of 55. Thanks.

I only have logo 700 and henseleit TDR.

I did look at the preset and it does seem low cyclic gain.

Running 45 on both my 2 L700vbar and TDR feel perfect, i did run 60 on the L700 for ages but it did not really seem to do much that i could feel.

What are you not happy with?

PS the stock file for the TDR is perfect, heli flies fantastic!

Thanks Helicraze. I'm just in the middle of my VBar set-up for the XLE and just noticed the low gain settings compared to my L700 set-up. Was just curious and wanted to get feedback from you. I will try to get the parameters closer to my L700 then. Hopefully, I can get the VBar XLE maidened this week and see.

Glad you're happy with the TDR. I'm so jealous. I don't get mine 'til May 2010. At least I get to enjoy the XLE first. And I'm enjoying every bit of the L700 too by the way.
