Hello everyone,
I have a new pred gasr and am new to helis. I have been spending time on the sim and am working on getting a 500 size electric to train on.
Questions-
As much as I hate it, I will probably crash this in one way or another as part of the learning curve.
My dealer (thehelicenter.com) threw in a set of woodies but they are 690's. Are they ok for break-in and training if I heep my headspeed down?
I have a new set of Futaba 3152 digitals. Will they be ok with 6 volt regulated li-ions on the gasser? (I figure they won't cost a fortune if crash damaged-don't want them to cause the crash)
I have an aluminum frame and an extra carbon frame. Start of with the aluminum or the carbon?
Is the fan balanced?
What are the typical "crash" parts for hovering and low altitude crashes?

your 690 woodies will be ok for learning with.

those servoes will run fine at 6 volts, but make sure you have a step down for your tail servo. they are not the fastest or most powerful servoe's. i would upgrade them to something like the 5452's once you want to start throwing that thing around.

stick with the aluminum frames for now. they are very strong and relatively crash resistant. the carbon ones save you some weight, but thats about it.

for crash's. your generally looking at blades, anything on the rotor head, tail boom and its torque tube (if you get a boom strike), and landing gear. it it all depends on how you crash.

you should balance the clutch and fan assemblies.
