Static can be a issue that on FM/PCM radio receivers can cause the occasional feared "Glitch", the 2.4g systems are less prone.

Now it takes environmental conditions for static, like cold weather, dry air etc, etc...

For those who run the Carbon Fibre tail booms it seems to be more prone due to the frictional surfaces of the rotor disc and belt.

Do you believe your having a problem with static, your question is vague.

I don't feel there is an issue with Static on Raptors. I flew them on 72mhz for several years without a single issue (yes I used to live in SD as well, so I know the climate).

No static problems with Raptors. The idler pulleys keep the belt away from the boom walls.

I have flown Raptor 30’s and 50’s for years and never had a static problem. I use the stock tail so there may be some upgrades that cause a problem. The stock tail is excellent do you don’t need to upgrade.

I think that the Trex belt problems on the T500 has given tail drive belts a bad name. Even with a Spektrum receiver those things were falling out of the sky. Thunder Tiger has proven that a will design belt system is better than a shaft drive. Align wants to sell you an expensive upgrade instead of properly addressing their design deficiencies.

towertsk-
Let's start at the original post question again!
You asked if there is a "issue" on Raptors and what was the solution to solve it!

I should've thrown out the standard response; "Do a search" answer!

In reference, No I have never had a static problem, now if you do a search, others have had issues..

Check it out!

Pull N Pitch
I did do a seach and only found one result where someone had the standard solution (ground the boom), but I wanted to here from people here.

Spray the belt with WD-40!
WD-40 will cause belt rot and goo in the pulleys and boom. That’s nasty stuff and I would never use it on a helicopter.

Use a silicone oil spray available in most automotive stores. I get mine at Wal-Mart. Silicone sill cut down on friction and also make the belt last longer.

A few years ago I was flying a JR GSR which has a VERY long tail and a CF boom. It was experiencing a significant static discharge issue which would cause all 3 swash servos to jump - exciting stuff when you have ~$15k in the air (camera equipment and all). So, IF you have a CF boom you may have a higher likelyhood of experiencing a static issue. Having said that I have never experienced/seen or heard of this in a Raptor, even with my old school FM radio and basic Futaba 127DF RX.

Our solution (I was the pilot, not the owner) was silicone spray. Never saw the issue again after that. Also helps with the smaller heli's, belt becomes smoother.
