Looking for a large helicopter to play with and came across this picture. I am not an engineer, but this looks stupid to me. For that money one would expect an engineering marvel.

Does anyone have a better solution?

What I want is a well desiegned machine and not a rude answer.
By the way that is one ugly heli. Ultimately i would like a jet driven copter with a minimum 8 foot rotor disk. The mechanics should be capable of being put in a scale body.

So, with your 9th post on the forum, you come on and tell me no rude answers, and tell me how ugly and unengineered our helicopter is?
Ok, short answer, not being rude, we do not have what you are looking for. Every manufacturers helis are up to subjective review as to whether they are an engineering marvel., depending on who is looking at them.

The fact that one has x number of posts qualifies or disqualifies him is to speak is a rude answer in and of itself. I have been in this hobby for 20 years and have seen jet driven choppers with beautiful twin exhausts. I saw one in a magazine a while back. Made in Germany.

Actually is really nice machine!!! Your just too simple to comprehend its engineering beauty. Go look at Airstar Helicopters they are right up your ally. - Adam

Hey guys, don't WASTE your effort in even responding and keeping the thread going. This guy is probably one of the 'out of a job GM car engineers" .No wonder our society is in such foul shape !

Large Scale XLV- VARIO
Adam I understand u are a friend of East Coast Scale, the least you could do is be honest when you write a post. It is true that I am not an engineer I am in the finance business, but I know ugly and not thought through engineering when I see it.
So when you are shilling for someone, be honest about it.
Joe about post counting, if you would look up my posts, one of my posts was addressed to you inquiring about a month ago, inquiring about a Joker Electric Helicopter. The thread was never responded because I did not have enough counts on my account. The pm you send me was very short and you really did not convince me to buy the chopper. I guess with that kind of attitude the Germans had no choice but to terminate your exclusive distributorship with mini copters. Despite all of that I am in the market for a large chopper, preferably scale.

Hey Wayne what a beautiful Bell 47 you built, what do you think of retrofitting a jet engine into that large scale ship. How does she handle?

I agree with Adam. He makes sense when he mentions to seek out other companies. Vario is over rated and way over priced. For German engineering they are far behind the other manufacturers. As far as East Coast Scale goes... it would be nice if they answered the phone calls and took some time in the email replies. It seems like they have no time for any one to answer simple questions. I finally gave up on them several years ago for the following reasons:

Poor communication with customers
Never have anything in stock
Over priced when compared to similar models.

Just to let you know I have heard that they have lost the distributorship for JOKER USA and the Vario line could be next. Not a good investment if you are looking for customer support and service.

HI Bodigtlysqueek, they maybe noisy, but nothing beats a jet sound. When u say they dont fit, do u mean size wise or what other reason.

There are very few full size turbine 47G's and fitting a turbine in the model would not be easy.

If you want a big turbine scale model, why don't you get a turbine Lama. 2.4M 3 blade disk, flies like a dream and is very scale including the turbine.

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t know that full size Bell 47 helicopters exists with Jet engines. I looked at the turbine Lamas and it didn’t do anything for me. I personally prefer the Bell helicopters, such as Bell 222, Huey’s and especially the Bell 47 helicopters.

BTW – beautiful website. You do some great work!

Fastthrow, I have found joe Howard to be exactly the opposite of what you are saying . As far as the Vario brand,I am VERY pleased with my heli and the experience with the entire Vario experience, and I can tell you that I pay for every part I have gotten from them. I suggest you not let your mouth run wild before you think about what you are sayin also ! Figure out what you want in a heli and research its history so you will be intelligent when inquiring about them. There was a few conversions to turbine on the 47,but i doubt you get any feedback or help with a project since you don't like Vario. Also, whats the outright LIE about being an engineer ? Who do you think will believe anything you say now. END

O. O. I just realized, I should not make any comments on this topic because I don’t have at least 2000 posts.
Would be interesting to know how many posts it takes, to get a technical question answered.

This kind of behavior can’t help anybody, how about starting helping people.
I would like to help but have no scale experience.
In the future I would like to go into scale myself.

You are correct only in that you did say you were not an engineer. I thought I would acknowledge that to be so,BUT,I am smart enough to not return anymore of your posts. Have a nice life.
