Will the DS420 servos work in a 450 because almost everywhere I look the say 250. Also is the performance better than Hitec HS65's?

DS 410 fits the same hole as an HS65. Yes it should work just fine. Your post says 420, that's the fast, low-torque TR servo. The 410 should go head to head with the HS65.

The 420, for what it's worth, doesn't seem to be a great TR servo. I have one, it spends its days in a box. It was VERY notchy and made the tail uncontrollable. I think others have seen the same results.

Any time. The 410's are OK, I haven't seen a problem with them and lots of other people like them. The 420 is kind of hit and miss, however.

How about the 520 for the tail of a 500 heli, is it good enough? Or there's also issues with this TR servo?
I asked cus i've heard issues with the 410s and 420s.
Thanks a lot.

regards,

my 520 that came with my pro is awesome...
if it's notchy i would suspect a bad pot.

you can check for bad servos by putting a small bit of load in the oppsite direction of travel ( in both directions)

if the servo jitters or appears notchy or appears to move in "steps"

dump that beeotch... and get a replacement right away..

Hi Rob,

Thanks a lot for the tips, i'll do that and see if everything is fine with mine when it arrived. Btw, so i suppose there's no issue reported that this 520 failed after a period of time?

regards,

my 520 has been fine,
however i had some other servos go bad,
or were bad right out of the box.

just remember the 420is a small servo
and shouldent be wrenched in with
a breaker bar..
just snug them up,
no need to kill'em

Thanks a lot for the help Rob, i think i'll go for the 520 then, since it's a TR that's rated for 6v so i don't have to add a step down for it.
