My cell phone contract is up this year and I want to try another company, and add some services to my phone(plus get a new phone). Id like to have an internet capable phone this time. A keypad would be nice for typing emails as well, but not a necessity. The main reason for wanting internet this time is to be able to access my email account. Give me some suggestions on phones to check out and I will figure out what I like/don't like. Also, cheaper the better because I tend to break my phones if they aren't real durable. Thanks

Althought I own and love my iPhone 3G, I'd recommend checking out the new Palm Pre if Sprint is good in your area and the new Android phones for Tmobile and Verizon. If you don't know, Android is a new open source phone operating system by google that will run on some new phones. It's far better than windows mobile and a good alternative to the iPhone (which i still recommend!).

None of them are "cheap" but they're all quality devices, especially with the new Android device being made by Samsung.

my second choice was the palm centro full small keyboard and small screen but both phone are fully internet capible

My new work phone is a Tmobile G1 ( The Google Phone with Android on it) and I really dig it.

full sized keyboard and onscreen like the Iphone.
does alot of things as well as the Iphone and a few things even better.

My boss has the Iphone and we compare alot.

Came off the Blackberry Curve and very happy I did.

That tmobile G1 looks very nice, but I think that's more than I want to spend. I would like to keep my price on the phone under $150. The LG xenon looks to be in my price range. I'll keep exploring. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm checking them all out.

[quote] I phone drops calls like cell phones from the 90's

You must live in the desert LOL... I have had 1 dropped call on my 3G and it's just because of the power lines on this one street. I love my Iphone. For $199.00 8gb with a new contract there is nothing on the market to compare ....They have more apps and acess. than anything out there. All these wanna be Iphone's are just that wannbe's. I had the LG Vue and tha Sansung Sync for 3 days and got the Iphone I just cant put it down and that was 5 months ago and the new 3.0 upgrade is only 2 months out. So good luck.

Why try the rest when you can have the BEST

Care to elaborate instead of giving the usual dip-**** answer there Gimbal? Or is that asking to much?

Care to elaborate
The iPhone has several problems and quite a few detractors, and I've seen plenty of both firsthand. The inaccurate blatherings of fanboys, regardless of product type or model, are irrelevant.
the usual dip-**** answer
Half-baked, dip**** comments like his get the replies they deserve, as do yours.

Just as irrelevant as your reply.

How bout adding something constructive to the thread instead of just trying to show everyone how arrogant of an arsehole you can be?

For example:

iPhone is great if you are one of those guys that carries and iPOD and a cellphone around and would like to combine the 2n. It handles getting your corporate email as well as your home email which would satisfy one of your requirements. It's probably not going to fill your cost requirement though since the phone itself would run you at least $99 for a refurbished model not to mention the extra you'll have to pay for the required data service and texting add-on. It would be better if you could tell us what Cell Carriers have the best all around reception in your area since that's going to be probably the main factor.

Wrong.

In case you hadn't noticed, I have -- by pointing out a fanboy's irrational claims. Your irrational response points toward you being a fanboy too.

Max400dude , so you see its a touchy subject. we have a few guys with iphone at our site(ocma) and they always have lost calls or disconects
and worse no reception at all. but my good ol trusty cell phone(motorolla) works perfect. you decide , but I going to wait and see whats coming.

The Iphone really offers more than I want, and more than I need, but I'll keep it in mind. Someone I knew was selling hers and I asked her why, she said it was because of too many dropped calls. This was in an area that my cell phone will barely function in, so I figured that was the reason. Maybe it wasn't. My current cell phone and provider works fine as far as reception and dropped calls go, but when I go out of town it gives me a lot of trouble. One thing I can say for sure though, the people that like the Iphone love it, the people that don't hate it.

i cant stand the Iphone myself.

anything with a touchscreen just blows for me.

I cant type for crap on that stuff.

Give me a blackberry or the full size keyboard on the G1 and I'm much happier.

specially since my phone is a corporate phone I need to be very accurate with my mobile emails.

I dunno half the crap the Iphone can do is for kiddies anyway I find it a teenage gimmiky toy.

But then Again as a MS Certified System Engineer for over 15 years I cannot stand Apples of any sort they all come off as super expensive toys for the stupid..

so IMO anything but Apple.

I love my Samsung Omnia. It's like a blackberry only faster and better. It's pretty awesome. One plus over the blackberry is the Samsung comes with all the microsoft office apps preloaded so it's not a spare fee. It will also hook to your outlook if you work for an employer that has an exchange server.
