So can I ask something else?
You all guys set the throttle servo endpoints (lower and upper point of carburetor) by using the ATV's or with the throttle curves? What is better?

We are using the same gov on both of our 700s and on our Aeolus 50.
One has developed sticking throttle servo problem.

The problem is in the delicate gov wiring. On a bench, make sure you have a solid gov light. Move your throttle (in normal) and make sure it moves smoothly. If it has no problem, start wiggingling the wires that come out of the gov at various point and make sure that the light does not dim or blink.

On one of the units, the wires were making intermittent connection so the heli attitude caused the engine to run erratic as the gov gain signal was breeched. Replacing the gov took care of that problem.

I set my throttle ATV's at 100 and 100 top/bottom in the radio and picked a ball position on the servo arm and throttle arm and set linkages at 90 degrees at half throttle to achieve the throws with those ATV settings in the radio on the throttle channel, don't change them at all after.

I set my throttle trim in my radio ALL the way DOWN closed and made sure the magnet turned off the gov light whan passed over the sensor and picked the correct AUX2 switch on off positions (DX7).

Turn the radio and heli on and with the throttle at low stick got the light and held down the switch till flashing I think and then moved the throttle to the high position and it was all set.

I run a 0-25-50-75-100 or 0-inh-50-inh-100 in your normal throttle curve then set up the Idle up curves to 100, 60 or 70, 100 in idle up 1 and 2.

NOW you use the AUX2 or whatever switch you have set the gov to have on and off and change those ATV'S in the radio to set/change the headspeed.

There is a way to program it for 3 diff rpm's with the 3 pre mixes in the DX7 radio but I'm not familiar with how to in other radios.

Oh No Someone Please Stop Me Before I Go Broke With This Heli Thing!!

Thank you guys for your help and smart suggestions.
It seems that I have several things to check. I will try all these things and I hope I will have good news at my next test flight (I think I will achieve to do it in this weekend). I will inform you for the results as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

George

I had exacltly the same issue and it is solved now.
hello,

Your problem looks like the same as I had on my T600 and T700.
The governor is ok when you are flying normally and as soon as you go inverted, the engine reduced dramatically the RPM until go come back to normal flight and you do not have any issue when you are inverted without the governor with normal idle up is that right?
I had some bad moment to undertand the issue and here is what happened to me (maybe it is the same for you?).
I did not set the control of the governor (channel 7) using the ATV (dual rate) but I made a flat line as for an electric heli. This is absolutely wrong. The problem is in that case the governor works as if you had no switch to activate it. The offset of the flat line give the set up speed but the governor will only activate above 35% of the position of the stick. So when you go inverted and start to put negative pitch, as soon as you come under 35%, it seems that the governor goes off and reduce the power of the engine... (i know, it is strange).
FInally I changed the setting of channel 7. The atv is -100 to 100% and i use the dual rate function with a switch to activate the governor and a potentiometer to modify the value and now it works perfectly.
I dont know if my explaination is clear, but i hope it helps.

cheers

Hello yannick,

I have exactly the problem you describe but I cannot figure out how you set it up.I am using the Futaba 7CP and I dont know how and what to do.
Could you be more precise so I can make some test my self?

Thanks in advise,
George

setting on t14
Hello georges,

Here is what i did. The TX is a futaba t14.
- I have an idle up switch (3 position) to fly without governor with 2 different V curves (normal, idle up1, idle up 2).
- The aux channel controlling the governor is the channel 7.
- On the channel 7 the ATV is -100 / +100.
- The idle up switch is affected as DUAL RATE switch for channel 7.
- the Align governor will only activate if dual rate value is above 35%. and the value of the dual rate you put will be the RPM setting.
- So here is my setting for the 3 switch position.
- Position normal: normal throttle curve 0 to 100%, symetrical dual rate value of anything under 35% so the governor does not activate (green light off).
- Position idle up1. V throttle curve and symetrical dual rate value of anything under 35% so the governor does not activate (green light off). This allows me to fly without governor if I want to.
- Position idle up2. V throttle curve and symetrical dual rate value of about 70 %. the governor does activate (green light on). this is the governor flying mode. the V curve of idle up 2 is not used as the governor has control. in case of problem, if the governor disengages (lost magnet for example) the V curve will be active and there is no risk of engine control loss.
- On top of that i have a potentiometer controling the DUAL RATE value of the idle up 2 position, ie the rpm setting of the governor. I can change it in flight that way, but this is not necessary if you dont need it.
- Practically, when i fly, I directly go from normal to idle up 2 (governor mode). If for any reason i want to disengage the governor, i shift to idle up 1.

Here is my setting, I hope it helps. It work fine like that for me and I am happy of that governor. If I am not clear please let me know.

Cheers

Yannick.

Thank you yannick,

The thing is that with my TX (futaba 7cp) I can only set dual rates for aileron, elevator and rudder. I think I cannot set dual rate for a channel or a switch and I don't know if I can actually do your example.
