Can any one give me information on how I can get a drive gear to fit my 555. Alternativly, if I have to retro fit, the gear is 90mm Diamiter with 86 teeth around the edge and 60 teeth on the crown, with a 8mm hole for the drive shaft.I have been told 'it will never fly' and I am determined to prove them all wrong, even if I only get it 6ins off the ground.

Hi Budgie!
I just might have a gear for you. I'll have to look thru my parts. I do also have a 555, but mine has an auto unit. I can tell you with a little care and maintenance it will fly quite well. It is very stable and docile. But the OS 45 FSR in mine is way too weak for such a heavy helicopter - it did actually dismantle the muffler in the air because it was working so hard! An old 60 would make it quick though

Who says it can't fly? - Just watch and I'll make it!!

Bent Are,

Respectfully, I disagree with one thing you said sir.

I set up and flew several of these, as well as its precessors (Falcon Mk I and Mk II).

A OS.45FSR is plenty for it. It is a hover/cruise machine, intended as a trainer.

The 707 required a .50FSR with its larger rotor span and wider chord blades. 808/888 used .60's.

i don't know if it will fit but you could try a shuttle main gear and auto hub and the s30 tail drive pinion/gear (as used on the lama 30 and ghp346)
you could pick up the shuttle gear off ebay cheap enough so you won't loose out if it doesn't work

and i agree it will fly again, i had it said to me about two morley bell 47's that looked like a pile of scrap, the morley's with a pair of good ones were awarded the morley vintage cup a couple of years ago
and the worst one in the pile was the most liked
