I don't think I'm alone when I say that I have grown tired of flying the same ole machines for the past few years. Align, Compass, JR, TT and alike.
All are respectable helicopters with pros and cons of the fifty class.
But with the rare pleasure of having flown the Velocity 50 all I can say is that this machine fly's like no other in comparison. What Outrage and HeliDirect need to do is focus on getting this machine finished and out to the masses. I know of many pilots itching to try something new and do not want to try switching to the status quot.
I have heard rumors that the Velocity 90 is being tested and perhaps targeted for a debut at the 3D Masters in Spain this year. All I can say is FINISH the 50 first and then move onto the 90. The market is ripe right now for a new 50 size machine -- Don't miss the boat !!

Problems ? -- Mine are flown in fresh daily

Yes -it is faster than the 3D and considerably more stable. It has roll rates that exceed even the Knight 600E on 8s.

I mean this to be a serious question: what does the v50 offer that is unique? What makes it better than a Trex? From what I can see all that is different (excluding the canopy) is that it has a bit longer boom.

Am I missing what all the hype is about?

The head geometry is far quicker and more stable than the T-rex
The weight is a huge difference....

I have to say I think the 50 market is far from stale. There has never ever been so many 50 size helis to choose from, same goes for 90's. MA's coming out with a 50 whoda thunk, Kasama probably will, Synergy is, the Vision 50 is in the us now(and growing at our field ), and the new Raptor SE, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others. I would like to see the Velocity up close, looks light and fairly quick from the vids I've seen.

You are right about one thing, there are plenty of .50 size machines.

And the pro's and cons of each have been hashed out for years and years.

there are only a very few good 3d 'out of the box' machines
JR Vibe
Compass Knight
600n

yes there are other good flying heli's, but some fall apart within a few flights, others have rediculous parts costs.

A few guys I fly with tried the ElyQ, they are all gone now.

The Velocity is super quick, light & stable, is definately not a dinosaur design, parts quality is excellent, and is being designed/marketed by a company that provides parts, has a strong dealer network & has very competitive pricing

The Outrage head ratios are nice

I can honestly say the 450 and 550 are some of the best flying heads i have ever flown and the 50 can only be better

I can Honestly say the MHA Video of HC is some of the best flying i have seen him do in a long time
