On the Align 91 HP are you guys using one or two shims for the head. I am using Cool Power 30%.

I am having some mid range issues with the motor. I was advised to put one more shim in the head and it would help.

I removed the head and now need to make a decision.

Thanks

Only 1 shim at .008

Anything more and you will lose a bit of power.

Mike

I am not an aggressive 3D flyer. More of a recreational flyer. I agree that I will loose some power but is it true that adding a additional shim will help to make that motor a bit smoother and tunable?

I have had some tuning issues.

Thanks Mike

The Align motor only comes with one shim, and it's installed.

What are you needles set at?

I was at 2 turns out on the main and mid. The motor was fat. I went to 1 1/2 on both and the high cleaned up good. Nice smoke and good power.

The problem was in my 3/4 climb outs. My motor would gurgle. I tried richening my mid with no results. Than I tried leaning my mid and thats where it went bad. I went down to 1 1/4 out on the mid and did a couple of hard climb outs and a slow climb out. On the slow climb out it was struggling and it got up about 150 feet and died.

Autoed it down. Head @ 300 and base at 150. Tore apart the motor and fused the ring on the exhaust port side. Need piston, ring and sleeve.
