I see that the FAI F3C World Chapionship is ending day before IRCHA starts. Anyone planning on going to IRCHA one to two days early to catch the finals?

I thought it might be nice to go there one day early.

The worlds championships are awesome. Very fun to watch. I went back in 2001 when they were last held in the states. I have my reservations to be there for the last 4 days of competition. as well as IRCHA

I'll be there, I think it will be fun to see some different types of flying and after all, it is a world championship, should be entertaining and worth getting there a few days early

It is held in Muncie, IN this year. My guess will be that it will be on the main runway (where XFC is held).

I believe the Finals are actually going to be on the 'L' pad (over by the control line stunt circles, farthest away from main IRCHA flight line. That is so they can get IRCHA stuff set up on 'Stage Center' (main runway) and the normal IRCHA grass site.
See attached bulletin.

I will be going to IRCHA very early... actually will be there for opening ceremonies on August 2nd.

Actually for World's they will not be using the XFC site since its a concrete runway... the competitors prefer a grass landing area. So during the event Site 4 (IRCHA site) and Site 5 will be used. Site 5 is generally where the Sailplane NATS are held.

Also, please remember that due to World's there will be no open flying or very limited open flying at the AMA site until probably Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.

What exactly is the format? Is there such thing as a finals on Tuesday or does everyone compete from beginning to end?
When does it actually end and the ceremony occurr?

Ah, let's not get too picky on sites, in 2001 we used stage center (main runway for prelims and finals. More to do this time with setup and early arriving IRCHA. Yes, grass is preferred, but remember, these guys (FAI types) are only on the surface very briefly.

As far as format, there days of prelims, 4 flights per competitor, usually takes 4 days. then top 15% advance to finals, 2 flights one day, 1 flight last day. Usually a day off in between prelims and finals for weather or practice.

I wouldn't mind seeing the World Championship for a couple days before IRCHA. Should be a lot of fun.
