Guys,

How do you tell if the 50 Hyper needs new bearings? It seems to be running OK but seems to be getting noisy. The engine seems to rattle at idle.

I pulled the back plate off and see brown deposits on the crank. Everything seems smooth when turning the engine over.

I have replaced the clutch in case the one way bearing was the problem, replaced the start shaft bearing and start shaft.

The engine is the only thing I have not changed.

Thanks!

Sounds like the bearings are going bad. If it sounds louder than usual at idle, it's the bearing. Change it as soon as pratical unless you know how to auto

Ka-Ching!

It's telling you now that it is ready. Replace the bearing before you need to replace the whole motor.

Hyper rattle
PeteS,
Also take a look at the brass bushing on the crankshaft end of the connecting rod. If this bushing is worn it will cause a rattle or knocking sound. Most often only heard at idle.
I hope this is of some small help.
Regards

Pipe...
If you are using an Outrage pipe...you sure it's not the pipe rattling?

They have been know to have loose baffles ...I have had the issue on all my Outrage pipes...but they are good and replace them ...

Just something else to look at...if you are flying an Outrage pipe
