Wow, that is a shame. Sorry for your friends loss.

The energy density of LiPo's is what makes them so great. But by the same token they also truly demand respect. Thanks for the reminder.

I've heard of a few guys to whom it happened, even 1 guy at our club, but have never been there or seen a picture...sure makes you think. Sorry to hear this happened to your friend. Hope that everything is OK with him.

before people start freaking out we need more info,is this recent?

there is much more to this than we are being told, healthy lipos charged on lipo specific chargers dont just explode, was the lipo damaged, was it on proper settings?

I am not really believing that a healthy lipo charged properly just ignited 2 min into a charge.

I AM NOT SAYING THERE IS NOT DANGER OR DONT BE SAFE,but theres more details to this

I just re-read to make sure I didn't miss anything.and it just seems weird that a lipo charged at around 1/2C would just ignite 3 or 4 min into a charge, something aint right

Guys come on... this is simply a reminder to us that our hobby can be dangerous. It's not about what charger, what lipo, or what you fly. It's simply a reminder to be careful...THATS ALL!

Thanks for the warning but it does kind of matter what charger/setup was being used. If the guy was using a crappy or wrong charger then the situation would be different than one where all the proper equipment was being used. Were the batteries allowed to cool before charging? The lesson is far different depending on some pretty important circumstances.
