Another reason, on the smaller helis like the 450, the Jesus bolt will break is because of over tightning. A bolt with a lot of tension will shear a lot easier. Use Loctite and moderate tightness..I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

I use grade 8 bolts and get very long ones. The aim is to get smooth shank all the way thru the hole with threads in the nut area only. Cut off the excess threads after installation. Threads should not contact load bearing bore areas.
+1 to tchavei post.

making it a 4mm bolt should hurt anything. if you recall the bottom bolt is a 4mm bolt, so if the shaft wont pull out throught the bottom then the head wont pull off through the top.

I dont have a Vibe so chances are I should just SFU but as a general rule I sure think twice or more before making a change that close to where bad things happen when stuff breaks. Mods in non flight critical areas is one thing, mods where all the torque is applied is another
All of course IMO
So Ill take my own advise and SFU

The lower bolt doesn't see any lateral forces. The upper one does. JR isn't stupid. It actually requires more work (read as money) to use 2 different tools on the same main shaft (3mm bit on top and 4mm on bottom). There is no financial advantage for the manufacturer NOT giving us the 4mm bolt/hole on the top. If they don't put a 4mm bolt there, there is a reason and you can bet that they know better than us. We're not talking about Align here. They will make what is necessary and then charge the customers for the added work. They will not skip on stuff because its cheaper/easier for them (which isn't the case anyway)
