Ok....sit patiently until the 25th - or not. Damn the manual is really BIG. Who knew that you could write 137 pages about setting up a sailplane?

I'm not giving up on Spektrum yet but may sell it in the spring. I still have some testing I want to do to see if I can understand what is happening with the v-bar.

I also need to send it back to HH to have a few switches replaced. I have the switches but if I do sell it would be good to have the HH seal of good health.

Speaking of health I'll be off my feet for a bit. I'm having ankle surgery next Tues and will be in a cast for a month. On the bright side I'll have more sim time!

We're you using satellites with the v-bar?

Yes, using satellites with vbar. That's the central question in my mind: is the vbar detecting sat witching that would normally be masked / filterd by the RX (even SBUS would not pass dropped frames down stream). So, I bought a Spektrum logger that records antenna switches and lost frames much like the vbar log. I'm planning on running a receiver with the logger in on the same heli so I can compare the vbar and spectrum performance. if it is materially different then there is likely a vbar issue. If they are comparable then what is being observed is likely normal multi-path interference or shadowing that is expected given the physics of the frequencies we are using.

As a side note I did some research on the Spektrum chip. It is well regarded and has a robust frequency hopping strategy. Based on my limited RF experience (primarily keyless entry for cars) I wouldn't expect it to be problematic. I haven't put a scope on the sat output signal yet but that may be challenging from a timing perspective given everything else the FBL is doing.

One of the other issues is the internal buss voltage that feeds the sat modules. Depending on power source and servo combination the internal buss that feeds the sats with power can dip enough to cause the sat brownouts even though supply voltage to the v-bar is acceptable.

From what i have read those that have switched to the separate receiver with a good power source have alleviated most of their issues.
