Cool! I almost attempted this a few years back with an MS Hornet but never got around to it. Do keep us updated!

Yep- looks like you are on to something there! So far all of the attempts I've seen involve ducted fan applications- never the centrifugal fan like in the Varios... Keep at it- this is exciting!

Interesting!!

Looks like u are using main motor to drive the main rotor and as well as driving a blower below it. If it is true, then this is an good/ingenious idea

Does the tail tube has some cutting/air outlet alone the way?..just like in real NOTAR.

Looks like we have a true craftsman here! That's something you rarely see in this hobby anymore. And further, I have read of folks discouraging this type of engineering in favor of just spending money using off-the-shelf parts- sad really.

So, thanks again for sharing and great work!!!

Why not have a top mounted motor so that you could fit the fan directly under the main gear to allow a more scale look?

Very nice work, awesome craftsmanship. It's going to be a nice heli. One thing I like to add is, you need to apply international patent for your heli. With helis everyone is looking for the next great thing, and this would be it.

Learn from the guy that made the 1st variable prop for E powered airplanes, using the Eco 8 tail rotor, and showing it off at a contest with no patent, we all seen what happened with that. But also a international patent seems like it doesn't stop China from copying things 1000 times over using diff names for the same re copied 1000 over and over product. Take care!

The Wright brothers spent a lot of their time and money pursuing legal battles over their patents rather than innovating more products. The failed to become a powerhouse in the aviation industry as a result of the time they spent chasing legal battles.

The legal protection is only as good as your ability to assert your patent rights, which depends on the money you have, and the legal system that exists where the infringement is taking place.

Well, I believe there are two types of people.
1. People with intention to gain profit from patent rights.
2. People with intention to share their invention/design to all.

For #2, it is like software open source or GPL. Sometime, the GPL can be good as whole community...if the design/invention is, it can become very widely adopted. Take example "TCP" (protocol use in network). If the creator make the TCP to be somehow patent rights protected, our internet may not grow that fast.

If these pictures may help?
RodovanH - I'm quickly a fan of your build and following closely because you're carrying out what I haven't got a chance to try yet myself! I've attached a few pictures of the inside of a real NOTAR and hope it may be of some help? I'm lucky enough to get to fly the real one and I'm always trying to learn something from the mechanic while he has it apart during the inspections. We just came up on a 100 hour inspection and he had the tail off because we found a faulty part that had to be replaced so keeping your build in mind I snapped a few pictures thinking they may help! I'd love to see the video if you have one! How is the tail holding for you? I know the guys are looking out for your best interest about the patents and after you get this flying right, maybe you need to pursue that but those patent attorneys aren't going to have as much fun as you flying your helicopter! Although the extra money would allow for buying more heli's for your fleet! Let me know if I could be of any help! Keep up the good work!

Invention, patent search and patent filing are totally different mind sets. Unless the inventor is altering the design to meet patent filing and approval process, it is comparing apples to oranges. Both my daughter and I have had two US Patents on two entirely different products, hence I understand the process and thinking.
