as far as I know you need full version adobe acrobat.

If you have the manual in doc file I can convert it for you if you want.

Download cute pdf writer (free), not the pro unless you want that, from here:

http://www.cutepdf.com/

It will show up as a "printer" and will allow you to convert files to .pdf format and they will be able to be read with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

You can also download OpenOffice, which is free and will save in pdf format.

The only thing that gets in the way of learning is education.

The full version of Acrobat doesn't "save .DOC files to PDF". It contains a plug-in that allows MS OFFICE to save documents in PDF format.

Regardless, you need to open the document with MS Office (Word) and then create a PDF file from there using either the PDF Writer, direct Acrobat conversion (the plug-in) or Acrobat Distiller. As mentioned before, you can also get inexpensive or free PDF print drivers from third party companies, but you'll still need an application that can first open your Office document.
