Hot
I usually try to keep them around 225-230. I have Venom temp guages on my nitro machines. I thought maybe the temp guage was wrong so I verfied with a Raytek temp guage - same thing. I also can tell by the sound. After about 2-3mins of 3D stuff you can tell by the exhaust sound it is very warm.

Can't keep your finger on the backplate when it happens.

I tried a combination of the low and high needles starting with the factory settings. Where it is now is the best I could get. Low needle at 2 o-clock and the high out 2 turns. It is so rich that everything is totally coated with oil............
sounds lean on the bottom end still. OS-50's I've ran seem to do best with the low end right near straight in line with the carb throat. With the low end that lean you'd have to run the main needle very rich.

Does the engine go right down to idle if you hit the throttle hold switch? If not, probably lean on the bottom end.

clutch
I don't think the clutch is locking up, as I have never had to unlock it. Everything in the drive train is pretty smooth and free. Have never had to unlock the clutch.

The low needle is aprox between the 2 o-clock position and being straight inline with the carb. I did try to richen the low end more, but then it kept loading up so bad it quit everytime I spooled it up.

Temp guage is the Venon for the r/c cars. I have used them for 6 years, have worked fine. But I also I have been using my Raytek gun too and it shows almost exactly the same temps as the Venon within 3 or 4 degrees.
