It never hurts to ask
I also don't get why people get upset over low (in their opinion) offers. Now yeah, if the lowballer wants to start whining and arguing about price then I can see how it quickly becomes annoying, but this whole attitude by some folks of make me an offer but don't dare lowball me is kinda silly. First off, maybe I just don't know that my offer is a low one? Secondly, who knows how many offers this person is getting on their item. Maybe he's asking $500 for something, and I've just paid a bunch of bills and only have $400 I can offer. Maybe he's had no "real" offers at all and wants to move this item quickly. I'd take the chance and say hey, here's my offer, tell me if it works for you. If not, that's cool, just say no I can't go that low. It seems like people have such a personal attachment to the value of their items that they take it as a personal attack on them if somebody offers less. I've never had that experience, but have certainly seem that scenario play out on RR in the past.

Low balls don't bother me, except when I sit on the throne.
As for "Whats your best price ?" Just say "I don't know yet, all the offers are not in yet."

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

IMHO, it only becomes annoying when it's an insulting offer and then when you tell them "No, thanks" they get mad.

A polite "No, thanks" shouldn't be taken personally.

+ 1 more.

I can't believe anyone gets so upset over such things. Just ignore lowball offers and move on. If the lowballer gets mad , just ignore them and move on ....

If someone lowballs me, no big deal... I just say no. But then they should accept no as an answer and not give the seller any sort of grief or arguement and move on to the next seller. I am very reluctant to give an offer on stuff, especially when it says "make reasonable offer" as who knows what that means to the seller. Some sellers get upset and call the offer a lowball. How about if the seller would say "best offer over xxx amount" instead of "reasonable offer" so the buyer knows what to offer to prevent the lowball accusation. I have not been in the accused lowballer position, but sure have seen a bunch of posts on here where guys are upset about it.

Strange, I wanted to read the thread myself between the Wasp and whoever, and I couldnt find anywhere in the sale section where someone gave someone enough grief to make this big a deal out of low ball answers. Am I missing something? your saying that you were selling a pipe and what happened?
