I want to make my starter portable. What kind of setup do some of you guys have. I have 2 6 cell 7.2 volt 3000mah's laying around will those be enough to turn a 90?

the batts you have will work...just wire them up in series.

The plus to using nimh/nicad is that you can use the KSJ rubber mounts...

I'm using a retired Align 6s 4200 16c Lipo. I've flown it quite a bit and it started to get puffy on one cell. So I relegated it to starter duty with my Dynatron starter. It still took a charge well and hasn't puffed while on starter duty. Cranks my 90 helis like they were 40's. Lasts seemingly forever.

A 5s pack should perform nearly as well

One of my flying guys have been using a pair os 3 cell 2100 batteries that were used on his 450 before he sold it. Works great and turns over a 90 with ease.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Sullivan 24V Dynatron Starter
I use two 3S lipos in series. Starts my T700 like butter. I don't have to charge it for months.

On a full charge It spins so fast that it will sometimes start without the glow ignighter...NO Bull...

I use an old 2100 3s lipo and it works fine. I was worried about how much it would draw but it works great even with the crappy old pack. Plus it seems to be lasting much longer than I expected. My only other concern was having the lipo get damaged from banging it around with the heavy starter. So I stuck it in a little box with some foam. Works great!

I have 2 6cell 3600mah Nimh RC car packs. 14.4 volts are plenty for a 91. I have Deans plugs on it so I can use my Trex 600e 6s5000mah packs which are 22.2volts. It is too much but works. It will outrun the oneway.

Sweet
Saint728, where did you find the Carbon Fiber mount?

I can still use two 2S lipos with that lower rubber battery mount.

helifat and saints starters are 100% to cool for school, wicked. I wish I had something that cool when I was into nitros for sure.
