Have you checked and double-checked that Tail Torque Compensation goes in the correct direction?

Thats the first thing I would check.
Next would be the pre comp. I had a kick till I backed that down and no other changes now the tail locks perfect with no kicks

If this is really true then the vbar is overcompensating because on a CW turning rotorhead, the nose should go left if the compensation is too low or DMA is setup wrongly.

kiddynamite: Double check that everything is setup correctly and then remove compensations in the tail (set to 0) and try again.

gain was too low.

with v4 you can run high gain, and thats normal.
all my 90 machine has at least 100.

I'm curious of exactly how the tail linkages are setup in addition to software gain and compensation. If the nose turns a bit to the right (clockwise) during a pitch pump and yet the tail is not wagging, I would also ensure the linkage setup including end point adjustments. Equal endpoint left and right of the servo horn and bell crank at 90 degree is the goal. Adjust the tail control rod until full left/right deflection is accomplished and equal left/right end points are achieved. The Vbar will be more happy to control your tail then.
