Hello,

I purchased a Honey bee king 2 and i upgraded it with a brushless esky 3100 kv motor / brushless esc 25A / Futaba GY401.
From the start i am facing a problem with the power of the heli.
I was trying to hover above o,50 m and i was full throttle. I did the upgrades because i thought that was the problem but i have the same problem after the upgrades.

Full throttle but no enough power to hover properly and as a result
the tail rotor to lose power also.

Sorry for the terminology but i'm a newbie in the helis.

Thanks in advance.

Kostis from Greece.

what battery are you using? if it is less than 15- 20c and smaller than 1500mha it might be your problem. got any pics of the setup?

How many teeth on your pinion? The 3100 motor is the weakest of the Esky Heli motors, but should have enough power for the King. I have not used the 3100 but I guess a 11 or 12 tooth pinion would work best.

Hello,

All my 4 bats are 1500mha 25C and also i tried with another bat
2200 mha 25c, so i don't think that the problem is the batts.

Thank you anyway for your swift reply.

You are right is not the strongest Esky motor but i also believe that capable to move HBK2 really easy. Now, about the pinion i tried only with a 9T, do you believe that this is the problem? any other setting that may affect the power?

Thank you

Definately try a larger pinion---9 tooth + 3100 KV equals a pretty low headspeed. Try an 11 tooth pinion with that motor and make sure your getting enough pitch on the main blades as well.

Thank you, i will try it the soonest and i will tell if that work or not. The only thing that makes me wonder is that before the upgrades with the esky brushed motor i had the same problem that's why i believed
that maybe my T/X or something is the problem.

Thank you again.

Let me chime in here....

I help him setup the heli and although the heli should fly even with the 9T it feels like the ESC is not giving 100% of power to the motor.

Pitch is correct at 3/4 stick, I would say arround 6-7 degrees but the motor is so weak it will not hold the tail upon sudden pitch changes.

I don't think the pinion is the problem as the motor bogs down even with the 9T. Imagine what will happen with the 12T.

We're gonna trya different radio so we can play with the end points as I think that's where the problem is.

Don't go by the stock brushed motor--- very weak-- gets very hot-- burns out quickly if it can get the heli off the ground .

Try hard timing on the ESC--- maybe its set on soft timing.

Timing on the ESC?

The only thing you can program on the 25A esky esc is the brake.

How about your max pitch?.. Sometimes King 2 does not hover if you set your pitch to 0 in midstick.. What I found out that if you set your max pitch to 9 or 10 degrees it hovers around 60% throttle. I used 3100 and 10T and stock Tx... with this setup with no problems....

what a man can do, another can do...

I found with BladeCP that it won't hover with stock TX because max pitch was only at 5*. I won't be doing no inverted flights so didn't matter too much, just wanted to fly. disconnected the motor, put the stick to max and adjust the pitch until I get to 9* and I was flying.
