I can not get the software to install on my XP machine.
The install shield will not run. Does anybody know what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

I would think Horizon Hobby would be a better place to ask that question.

. . . . Unless for some reason you think the crowd here knows more than the people that made the 12X.

Worst response I've ever read here. If everyone just emailed the manufacturer when there was a problem then there would almost be no need for the forums. Not to mention people here are much more likely to respond to an inguiry than horizon on a Sunday.

Clarence, wish I could help you bud but I don't know much about installation programs. In the meantime, take a look here and see if there are any good solutions:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...9;t+run&spell=1

Sometimes when the install shield won't work, the problem can be pretty generic and not necessarily having much to do with the program in question.

Is that so ? ? ?
I suppose if you have an unusual problem with your new car, you go talk to the car nut neighbor down the street also ? ? ?

Who pissed in you off this morning? My question has nothing to do with the radio. There is a piece of software for the 12X called pcdata transfer. The install shield is not running on my XP machines. SO I just thought that maybe someone else out there may have run into the same problem.

Are you trying to install data safe software? If so maybe I can help I had trouble too and found the directions on the CRAP you need to turn off to install it. anyhow let me know if its data safe and Ill look for the file.

Airwolf unnecessary yes horizon knows best but whats the point of RR. According to your statement nobody should ask a question here because 99% of then should contact the product vendor.

This was the reply from JR when I was having trouble.
Yes, this program does work with XP & Vista operating systems. It will be necessary to perform a couple of simple steps before installing the program, otherwise it doesn’t install automatically. Basically, we need to turn off the UAC
(User Account Control).

1. Go to Start
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select User Accounts (Classic View)
4. Turn User Account Control on or off and uncheck the UAC box.
5. Reboot (automatic)

I wish I could tell you how I did it, but I can tell you it was not three clicks and it was done. But I did get it to work and I am not an IT guy by any means. It seems like I had to turn something off or on in my computer.

I was sending the Tx in for the uddate and didn't want to program all my aircraft again so I had motive to make it "WORK"

Above post was the email/file they sent. I also was told it could be installed in one of the safe modes. but what it boils down to is the security stuff not allowing it to install but try the UAC thing should work it did for me.

I really like this software as we have made good use of it several times already. Plus its nice to have backups when I have 2 X9303 and so many programed models

Do you really have all 50 model memories filled in your 12X? I think I have about 10 filled, and at this rate I don't think I'll ever need to use the PC backup. I have heard, however, that the radio is easier to program on the computer than it is on the transmitter. Is this true?

I have never tried to program with the software and then install it in the transmitter but it is a great interface.

I only have 30 model mem in the 9303 and 12 filled on the heli trans and the airplane ver over 30

I recently had to send my plank ver in it was from the first batch and the wire wore through without the data safe I would have lost all the programming because they just sent me a new one.

You've got a good point there. I sent my iPod in for a battery repair, and what I got back was a whole new iPod.

I think I'll back up my 12X next time I have to send it in for repairs.

XP Home or Pro version?

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

RR is not my first choice for new product questions. I have a tendancy to go to the manufacturer first, not the "guy down the street".
