CHDK Scripts
Hey guys,
How do you have your scripts set for using CHDK? I have a G9 that I'm setting up with the VP-Remote. Until now I've been using PTP but it's too slow of a reaction time. I'd like to set up a straight script for pics only but not sure where to start.

thanks
Bill

I use CHDK to be able to take shoots in raw format using canon G9 and the excelent CAM remote unit.

I run scripts because of that, one for the CHDK and another to autostart/Autorun initialize the CHDK software.

Here is a link describing how to use the USB remote to trigger the cameras using CHDK.

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/USB_Remote_Cable

I use a small relay from Dimension Engineering to apply 5 volts from my radio receiver to the red and black wires in a USB cable. This allows me to fire the camera without using a servo. I also power the camera with 5 volts from a BEC and remove the 4 AA batteries to shave a few more ounces off.

This also eliminates the problem of getting in the field and discovering that the batteries in the camera are nearly dead (yes it's happened!)

It looks like I'll be going this route for still shots from my 450. I'll probably also use continuous shots to begin with until I get an inexpensive second TX/RX combo to serve as control over the camera.

I didn't realize what CHDK was until I read over this post and now I'm pretty excited to get home from work and load a version onto my Canon Powershot!

How do you set that up on the VP CAM Remote? The only option I see is the PTP one and that doesn't work.

Thanks Jose, that was exactly how you enable them. I have gone a different route and built my own board and programmed my own software.
