I know Carbon Fiber has a lot of interference for reciever reception. I want to use 2.4 ghz. Are there any external antenna extensions available that would allow me to run the antenna outside of the fuselage in a scale like manner?

Your 2.4 Receiver should work fine
Look at the Pattern planes and Giant Scale, Your Vario Scale would not be flying past where those planes fly.

Run your antennas in 90 degree of each other.

I have built several of those models without ANY interference at all ... I run the Antenna down a plastic tube in the Fuselage ... You need to remember that the Antenna is already in a protective coating and the carbon fiber has resin on it so neather really touch.

I Won IRCHA 2003 Scale with this model and used a JR 8301 ...

Boostjunkiee, If I were you i would get with one of the JR Reps and get some "first hand " knowledge of the "how to" do things with 2.4 in a carbon fuselage. THERE HAVE BEEN some problems with this and I think it worth your going straight to the people who know. Also when you get your receiver, both remote and main, put heat shrink on the antennas ! They have had many problems with these antennas breaking from vibration. I put one size that will slip right over the little boss where the antenna comes thru and let it come out about 1/2 inch ,and then put another piece on top of it all and let it come out about 3/4 inch. I have many hours like that with no problems. The first remotes antennas that were not supported broke within an hours running time.

mount the reciever at the bottom of the fuse so that the antennas can be extend out of the fuse through a small hole and postion them at 90 degree angles and you should be fine

I actually have a spektrum reciever I was thinking of using but it does not have any external wire antenna, just a plastic nub antenna with no way of mounting it with best reception unless it is mounted outside . So what I really need to know is what 2.4 ghz reciever is best used for large scale heli's like the vario big airwolf I am constructing that has a full carbon fuselage. I have not found a RX that is 2.4g that has a large external wire reciever. I would prefer somone who has actually built and flown a large scale and is using 2.4g to chime in if possible with what they are using. I have researched all factory supported websites for info but most is 72mhz crap in which I am NOT running on this scale heli. I appreciate all responses!

As I said before ,GO TO A JR REP AND TALK TO THEM. They have had a lot of occurences that may be of help to you. Also you may want to go to a fixed wing manufacturer that uses c/f composites and see how they do it. The JR REPS ARE THE BEST ROUTE AND YOU CAN CONTACT SEVERAL TO GET A CROSS SECTION OF IDEAS !! GOOD LUCK

Spektrum have a large ad in MA this month extolling the virtues of their new CF friendly Rx. It has extra long antennas and the ends come through the fuse. It is the AR9300.

Peter, That should be confirmation enough that they have a concern with c/f in aircraft. That looks like it would solve the problem.WOW,what would we do without 2.4 ,particularly Spektrum ?

BOOST, Another item you will find VERY helpful is the Spektrum Flight Log . You plug it into the data port on the receiver and then do your range chec.Afterchecking it you can use the Flight Log to see how many antenna fades, drops, etc. you had.I would not fly an a/c without one. They are 30 bucks and offer a great amount of assurance that things are correct.ASLO, VERY IMPORTANT ,when range testing use the distance specfied in the radio manual,I think its 30 steps . If you go further and hit the range test button you may get a lot of drops and fades on the Flight Log !! I found out the hard way !Just food for thouht .

I think my buddy has one of those. If not we will get that before we get the bird in the air along with the RX. We were debating if we would be able to bind to it with a different module. Do you happen to know if it can only be bound by a spektrum module?

I wouldn't think it possible to mix 2.4 brands. I know nothing about anything but the JR Spektrum line and won't fly anything else ! I know that the Fut. is a good radio but I have had too much great service from JR to switch.
