My old Align ESC burned out so I purchased a new Align ESC. It has a softstart feature. Is it better to turn that off so that if you were making a quick descent and needed power quickly it would be there. I'm worried that if it went in to the soft start mode there may be no time to get the rpm's of the motor back up.

If you fly in idle up soft start is not a problem. Id say put the soft start in you will probably never go to low stick wile flying in none idle up. If you are not in idle up put in a higher 5 point curve like 0,40,75,85,100 this will insure you have good head speed.~TEAM OCHC~

I have this in a scale 500D fuselage. Normally I don't fly with any idle ups for scale flying. Should I go ahead and set up an idle up anyway.

YES this will insure good head speed. You will need to find the correct V curve for your scale flying style. Mabe 100,75,65,75,100~TEAM OCHC~

You can use soft start. If you power down for more than 30 sec that's when soft start engages again other wise power is on comand

Yes, use soft start! It's a safety feature!

I use it in conjunction with Throttle Hold to spool up in Idle 1.
