Whatever happened to the Concept 30 SR-T / SR-X?
Back in the days, the SR-X was a hot performing machine at it's time despite having it's frame mostly plastic and a wire driven tail rotor.

Along came the Nexus 30 which was supposed to be it's replacement but it was a flop over teething problems like the clutch issues.
Then came the caliber 40/60...which was about 2 grand in it's time

So what does Kyosho make now in the line of glow helis?

I happen to have a Concept 30 SR-T and converted it into a SR-X. It just needs a O.S. .32 SX-H.

I think the SR-X & T were the best Kyosho made. Just when they have the bugs worked out they drop it. I have an SR-X with the Zeal metal frames. Always been one of my favorites, I found another SR-X on e-bay last year and bought it for parts.

Yeah, there are a lot of people like myself that had a soft spot for the SRX, and were disappointed when it was dropped; it was finally replaced (perhaps) by the very plastic Caliber 30 - I had a lot of fun with those too, until they dropped that. Now I have moved on to 90's (but not the Caliber)...

I liked my Concept SR-Xs. I had two and my buddy made fun of me since they were 30 size and plastic. When he saw what it could do, he bought 3. One of few helis that had the flybar in the same plane as the rotor disk. Well I wore them out and didn't like the Nexus. Last year my buddy had the 3 SRX laying around in his barn in various state of disrepair. He gave me all his SRX stuff and I made one that I flew back in Feb. I put a time period radio in it. JR 10sx, JR 1000 gyro, and Futaba 5101 servos. I have an OS 32sx H and a Chapman V-Tech or Whisper Tech muffler. I can't remember which it is. It is about 6" long with a cone at the rear and a 1/4" exhast pipe sticking out the side. The only upgrade is a Zeal metal fan.

I'm going to back thru it and replace any parts with newer that I had dug up since.

Very cool to see another one come back to life. The exhaust you have is the V-tech.
The whisper tech was a long pipe with the exit at the end.

I thought it is a V-Tech, but don't have docs and my memory couldn't nail it down. Thanks. I was able to find the complete manuals by googling to rebuild. Anyone try 550mm blades on the SRX?

I also have the original video made by Ray Hostetller (spelling?) that has him setting up the srx.
I also have the plastic gauge that came with the kit for the push pull geometry.

I have a cellophane/plastic gauge as well. It was so simple in design. I like the engine, fan, and starter cone setup.

just looked over my Concept SR-X and it doesn't look feasible to get parts for it...some small stuff are the heli-max aluminum cone to start it, pitch rod links and slider (from above the main gear thru to the mixers)and one elevator fore/aft linkage set.

Are those the items you need or are you wanting to bail.

Not sure if it's worth the hassle to find the parts for the Concept...I have a X-Cell .60 Graphite Custom #1004 which I love to fly and been using it all the time.

I'd be afriad to crash the Concept 30 SR-X and that'd prob be the end of getting good parts for it...It was my first heli that got me started in R/C so it got memories in it.

This year I found a new flying field which is huge and it's built on top of a landfill which is all covered up and cleaned up real nice with mowed grass everywhere...found out it opened up in 2005...gonna go there tomorrow to check it out and fly a few of my planes.

Took the Concept 30 SR-X off the shelf to look at it and I was suprise that I forgot I had a CSM360 HH gyro still in it and the RX battery. It has a Zeal swashplate.

Here's pics of it...the tail fin was a experiment from the crashed plastic X-Cell fins

It looks like I need a few parts, it still can fly but the last 2 times I flew it was with the super tigre .35 engine in it, it would only hover at full throttle. Prone to overheating.

I want to put in a OS .32 SX in it and posted a wanted ad in the engine classifieds.

Other than that, the collective linkages from the slider above the main gear that rides parallel to the main shaft to the mixer base, it needs to be replaced cuz the ones in there was made from a linkage wire and it isn't up to spec.

And the starter shaft, I made that to make it work with the X-Cell one way bearing starter shaft, I would like to put a cone starter in there so does anyone have a metal cone starter to work with this K&S cooling fan?

Or it could be a steel cone and I could weld it to that nut.

I have an SRX with Zeal upgrades, and it is a good flier, but the parts issue is something to think about. I don't want to crash it.

Why not put a new OS .37 in it. HotRod city.

I have a K&S fan, but I replaced it with a Zeal fan and cone starter. Is there an AMA safety nut or spinner you could put on the fan shaft?

Stop being wimps... ..go fly your Concepts. The real fun starts if you crash when you go looking for the parts. I fly mine as often as I can and have had one since 1996. There are parts out there ... trust me.
