Pres. Obama’s biggest accomplishment in first 100 days?
A week from today will mark President Barack Obama’s 100th day in office. And whether you agree with him or not — it’s fair to say that the president has been one busy guy. According to one report — a top White House aide says of the 100-day marker: “This isn’t Biblical. You don’t do 100 days and rest,” but acknowledges that President Obama’s first 100 days have been the most productive since FDR’s.
Here’s only some of what’s been on the president’s plate:

- When it comes to the economy: the passage of the $787 billion economic stimulus bill, the bank bailout plan and housing recovery measures.

- Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq and ordering an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan.

- Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay prison and ending the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques.”

- Lifting President Bush’s restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.

- Meeting with leaders around the world, promising a new era of American leadership and cooperation.

And there’s no indication Mr. Obama plans to slow down any time soon. The White House often speaks of his top goals of reviving the economy, health care and energy. And then there’s education, immigration, tax reform. and on and on…

But some wonder if by trying to do so much, the president could wind up accomplishing little.

Here’s my question to you: As he prepares to mark his first 100 days in office, what has been President Obama’s greatest accomplishment?

Since I don't see one positive accomplishment listed I'll offer one.
Even though he has moved towards the destruction of his own country he hasn't accidentally nuked anyone else yet!

Thanks for starting the thread, Hugo Chaves.

This one is negative no one should have gotten a bailout for any reason.
- Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq and ordering an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan.

- Lifting President Bush’s restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.

- Meeting with leaders around the world, promising a new era of American leadership and cooperation.

I think these are all positive accomplishments.

[quote]- Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay prison and ending the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques.”

I think the jury is still out on this one.

He has managed to put our children and grand children into debt for years, to come.

The troops have not been pulled out of Iraq yet so don't chalk up anything for that, Gitmo is still open so even if the commitments to do these two items are in place they ain't done yet.

You are right it is a new era of gevenment regulation, big government, and certainly increased taxes for decades. He certainly is changing things, and not for the better.

Signed,

I've seen his apologetic speeches and acknowledging Europe's "leading role". Obama is clearly following their examples, no matter how bad the consequences have turned out to be. That's not leadership. That's just following bad examples.

He's made the rest of the world look at us like a bunch of little girls.

He's allowed world leaders to talk down to him all the while they are making fun of us and telling him how bad this country is and has been and he's done a wonderfull job of mis-representing the US..

Currently he is in the process of opening up the doors for the terrorists to come in & kill who knows how many thousands of Amercians by taking away our ability to use "enhanced" interagation tactics while at the same time giving up our "enhanced" interagion tactics to the world so our enemies can train their murdering scumbags terrorist organizations how to combat the intelligence gathering.

He's wonderful isn't he?

- When it comes to the economy: the passage of the $787 billion economic stimulus bill, the bank bailout plan and housing recovery measures.
Uh, and those are all good things? See a person can have action, but not have those actions be positive. Bonnie and Clyde were 'busy'.

Ernest Hemingway; Never confuse movement with action.
- Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq
UH, Bush had a timetable set as well

http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/ar...awal_timetable/

"The draft agreement sets 2011 as the date by which all remaining U.S. troops will leave Iraq"

Obama set his date at April 2010. 6mths sooner.

Also, didn't Obama claim that he would have all troops out in 16 mths if he was elected?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...9022700620.html
"Those who had sought a speedier withdrawal included many in the Democratic Party and, at one time, Obama himself, who pledged during the campaign that combat troops would depart Iraq at the rate of one brigade a month and would all be home within 16 months of his inauguration.

Not only will the timetable be longer and the pace less even -- with major reductions unlikely to begin until after Iraqi elections in December, according to senior military officials -- but about a third of the current U.S. force of 142,000 will remain in Iraq until the end of 2011"
So his tune has already changed... So you want to give him credit for doing what Bush already agreed or do you want to give him credit for not meeting his campaign promise?
and ordering an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan.
Wasn't this the same Obama that claimed more troops in Iraq was the wrong answer for turning that conflict around? In fact, didn't he vote against sending more troops to Iraq to stop the violence there?

But, Afghanistan its cool to send more troops to stop the violence. So, how is it bad to send troops to stop violence in Iraq, but good to send troops to Afghanistan?
- Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay prison and ending the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques.”
Kenneth Roth, executive director at Human Rights Watch, criticizes Obama for continuing a Bush administration policy of invoking “state secrets” to dismiss a lawsuit accusing a Boeing subsidiary of helping the CIA secretly transport prisoners to torture chambers overseas.
The Obama administration, siding with the Bush White House, contended Friday that detainees in Afghanistan have no constitutional rights.

"The hope we all had in President Obama to lead us on a different path has not turned out as we'd hoped," said Tina Monshipour Foster, a human rights attorney representing a detainee at the Bagram Airfield. "We all expected better."
So, he said he would close GITMO, but he is keeping Bagram Airfield. One of the major complaints about GITMO was how the prisoners had no rights... But Obama said that detainees in Afghanistan have no constitutional rights.

Whats the difference?
- Lifting President Bush’s restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.
You should be clear.... Bush did not have a restriction on stem cell research. Private funds could do whatever they wanted. The restriction was on using TAX PAYER money to fund studies that were going to use stem cells that were harvested.

Also you should state that there are TWO types of stem cells... Embryonic and Adult. Adult stem cells had NO restriction.

So, Obama lifted a restriction that will allow tax payer paid research by harvesting embryonic stem cells. To get these cells you have to destroy a fetus.

In addition... Wanna guess what type of stem cell (embryonic/adult) currently has the most use? ADULT. In fact not ONE treatment has been found with embryonic. One of the major obstacles is rejection by the host body. With ADULT cells they can be taken from you and put back in you.

So, Bush never had a ban on research, Obama just is now allowing tax payer funds to pay for harvesting embryos to be used in research.
- Meeting with leaders around the world, promising a new era of American leadership and cooperation.
Big whoop. Every President does that.

- When it comes to the economy: the passage of the $787 billion economic stimulus bill, the bank bailout plan and housing recovery measures.

Yes he did and unemployment continues to soar in the private sector. But there are jobs a plenty in the government sector where big government is getting bigger and bigger. When asked where the money went, this administration said:"uh?"

- Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq and ordering an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan.

Heck any idiot can throw a dart at a calendar. Wow he set a timetable, let's give him some applause.

- Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay prison and ending the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques.”

That was just great. Too bad he didn't have enough sense to figure out where these life long terrorist are going to go (in other words "look before leaping".

- Lifting President Bush’s restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.

Think about it. Bush wouldn't use taxpayer money. This is all about money and power. Now Obama can funnel billions to the research companies that follow his agenda.

- Meeting with leaders around the world, promising a new era of American leadership and cooperation.

Yeah, he did great at the racist meeting at the UN...oh no, wait he snubbed it because he was afraid Iran might say something that would offend his ears. He certainly didn't want to show up and "blow away Iran" with his commanding presence and his teleprompter's speaking ability. Fraidy cat.

But missing are his greatest accomplishments of all. He has outted the potential terrorists that include Ron Paul supporters, Rush Limbaugh, veterans, all the right wing media - well hooray for him! And let's don't forget about packing his administration with the "people who kinda forgot to pay their taxes - well it's Tubro Tax problems." And don't bring up his illegal alien aunt who continues to live here at taxpayer expense.

His biggest future accomplishment will be to pack this country with 12 million illegal alien leftist voters to insure that this country will forever be a third rate socialist county run by the kind of snobbist elitist lawyers that we all have grown to know and love.

But let's just keep singing his praises because he's such a great community organizer. We wouldn't dare admit that he's made any mistakes because that would be a bad reflection on the people that voted for him and socialists don't make mistakes.

Otherwise, he is doing very well.
