Question, using DX7 airplane mode 2 for helicopters?
Question , how hard is it to use a DX7 mode 2 airplane radio for flying helicopters ? I know they have to programming, but how about the switches being in the wrong places?
Thanks Dan

You just have to learn to fly with the switches in different places or buy the heli version.

Take Care,

As long as you don't expect help from others, go ahead. Most heli flyers use the heli version and are simply used to the flight mode, gear switch and other switches being in the "right place".

I've helped a few new heli pilots who have their airplane version of a particular radio with those switches in the "wrong place". It's a bit distracting to have to fumble around for the flight mode or gyro gain switch while trying to trim out a new heli or just fly it around.

But if you're used to where the switches are, by all means, there's no reason you can't use it.

Hey Dan, this is not a big deal! I have fixed wing radios and fly heli's also. Yeah the switches are in different places, you only have to let people know what switch does what to get help! I was able to get help when starting with heli's and now I help others with different radio types. IMHO this is not enough of a reason to buy a new radio.

Happy flying, Dave.
