For those of you who have tried the SK360 - what did you think of it? How were your experiences? If you can fly 3d, I've read somewhere it has trouble with piroetting maneuvers, particularly piroflips. Is there any truth to that?

I was just about to click the buy me now button, and thought better of it. On doing a little reading I've seen one or two guys making a lot of noise, but not too many talking about it in general. If it can't piroflip without falling out of the sky that'll be a dealbreaker for me.

Any comments?

I now have two of them and they are excellent.

1. If you already have a good rudder gyro this is a very good way to go. If you are buying everything new than a 3-axis gyro might be a better choice.

2. Very easy initial setup and easy to get it flying. The default and basic 3D files will get you in the air quickly.

3. If you are a 3D expert it will take some experimenting with the parameters to get it tuned it in. Basically you keep increasing the gains a little at a time until you get what you want. I have found that every helicopter is a little different so copying another’s setup may be a good starting point but you will still need some tuning. Dampers and headspeed effect the optimum setup.

4. Pirouettes can be tuned in. It’s important to have high performance servos so that you can turn up the damping gain and other gain. The mechanical setup is important so make sure you have a high quality metal flybarless head. The ProBar is supposed to have better pirouette compensation but no one knows when it will be available.

5. I really like the computer interface. It’s easy to understand and you can save the setup to your computer. It comes with several setup files to get you started quickly. The book is good lots of information on how different parameters effect the flight and what to adjust if you have problems.

6. Also they have very good tech support.

Well it's not sounding bad so far... Couple things to note:

1: This will be going on a Century Raven with a nice Metal head.

2: The servos I'm running aren't top of the line, but they're not bad either. They're Hitec 5625MGs. 110oz torque, and 0.17 on the speed. Would those be adequate? I could run at 6.0v I suppose if I need to get a little more out of them.

3: Yeah I already have a Spartan DS760 on the heli the fbl unit will go on to. This is why I'm looking particularly at the SK360 rather than the more expensive (but comes with 3 axis) vbar.

And one question. Why is it that piroetting would require more from the servos than just regular flying around?

I like mine. I have pretty cheap servos and it does well. I do mild 3d at best with it.

I had some growing pains setting it up but now it is great! For $275 I am tickled pink with it.

Once you set it up properly you can forget it. Plug in my battery, make sure the 401 goes red, make sure the SK360 flashes green, and fly.

I give it two thumbs up.

Have it on my 600E and my 700N and it works really good. Take your time to set it up and get it dialed in and you will really enjoy it.

I've had a lot of fun with my Digital Flybar. This unit is simple to set up yet still provides endless hours of fine tuning if that's what you desire. Out of the box I was able to perform tic-tocs, piro flips, and any kind of forward or backward flight.

I am delighted with such a quality made, high performing piece of electronics. Now, my heli has the agility of a light fly bar and the stablity of heavy one.

Compared to some of the other units out there, the SK360 is down-right boring it's so well done.

I'll be getting another to put on my 90.

Chris.

Well thanks for the feedback folks. I took the plunge and ordered the SK360. Some folks said I'd be better off with the vbar, but I'm no smackdown 3d god anyway so I figure I'll give it a go, if it doesn't work out, I shouldn't have any trouble offloading it. Seems like it's a fairly popular unit.

Anyway, I'm working on getting it all set up now. So we'll see how it goes hopefully tomorrow.

Again thanks for the feedback.
