Metal Tail gear box bearings removal
I'm trying to remove the output shaft bearings from the metal tail gearbox on my trex 600. I remove both aluminum side plate from the gearbox and heat up the plate with a heatgun and tried to push the bearings out, but no dice.
i dont want to hammer the bearings out as i'm afraid the inner race of the bearing might pop out leaving the outer race stuck in the aluminum plate, and then it will be even more difficult to remove thereafter.

the bearings are not notchy, but feel pretty loose as if there is no more lubrication left. It does feel notchy when the shaft is spun a little tilted on the bearing. I just want to replace them anyway.

thanks
Tam

If they won't come out with heat, you're not using enough. I throw em in the toaster oven for about ten minutes.

Your heat gun should be able to get it hot enough, hold it on there longer.

got it!
i heat the thing till smokin hot, now the anodizing look a little pale blue. oh well, at least my new bearings are smooth now.

i don't want to completely loose the anodizing the second time trying to reinstall the bearing so i gently hammer the bearing back in.

thanks guys
