people are stupid in general, not just cops. for every mistake a cop makes, there are 100 that citizens make. the guy pulled off the side of the road on the passing lane, which is pretty dumb in itself.

typical jerk azzwad cop. he didn't like the cameraman filming him for a reason. cops are susposed to be trained to act professionally in situations like this, not over react. no wonder so many people don't like cops.

Given the number of accidents caused by "rubber necking" somewhere among all the over reaction there is the germ of a valid point. Voluntarily stopping on the shoulder of a freeway is an offense (it's for emergency use only), so the news crew driver does deserve a ticket.

Just should have been handled better.

cop should have told him to move that vehicle from the side of the road or he would arrest him for parking on the side of I-10....he *could* have noted to the reporter, "find a safe place to park and come back, you or the cameraman is welcome to stay, as is the public, while the other moves the truck."

that never happens.

yes, the guy was parked on the wrong side of the road,,

but,, what I would ask the cop,, is,, if he wanted the guy to leave, why did he run up and stop/and hold the guy from leaving, all the while telling the guy to leave ???

I hate jerk cops like that, they give good cops a bad name, sure hope he loses his job over it.
Then he can go protect a mall somewhere.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

He was parked on the shoulder ( notice the yellow stripe.)
which is pretty dumb in itself.
As opposed to lugging equipment across a three to four lane highway, dodging traffic. Hmmm.

Are you on the list?

If your family would have been in an accident, while the police were trying to keep traffic moving/tend to victims to prevent another accident, would you think ch.7 was right to add to the problem?. When told to move, Hunt disregarded the law. What's next for the news crew, blocking emergency vehicles and first responders to get a story?

Both parties could have handled this better.

The problem I see is the officer should have told all the people parked to leave, not just the news crew. I read the full report on this and The reporter was asked to leave even before the camera was turned on, but he kept trying to interview a couple of men that pulled the truck driver from the turned over truck. He broke the law and was arrest for that reason, but the cop should have kept his cool. Lesson learned, dont pull over on a freeway to watch an accident sence.

The cop told him to get the hell out of there and the news man did not.

I support the cop 100%.

I think the news guy should have received at leaset 15 seconds of night stick beating for making the officer break a sweat.

I'm sorry but the cop was doing his job. The MEDIA IS OUT OF CONTROL!

They are NOT above the law. it seems as if most outlets believe they can do whatever they want to bring a story forward, even breaking the law themselves. It's just nuts.

The officer can only deal with ONE thing at a time, he didn't appear to have a bullhorn to yell to everyone to get off that shoulder, and I honestly think he was thinking of the injured or dead parties families...didn't want them to have to watch that on the evening news.

I'm not "pro cop" but I'm not "anti cop" either...they serve a purpose...and sometimes many of them truly DO go too far.

I repeat though...in general across the nation and the world, the MEDIA is out of control.

Mixed opinion. I have seen all to many times where reporters do nothing other than screw up traffic even worse. A few years ago we had alot of rain overnight, and it caused some flooding on one of the interstates. 5 or 6 news vans were clogging up the overpass by the flood area. Stupid reporter from Ch 7 was standing in the middle of the friggen road doing a report. I got all of a big puddle as I passed by after waiting for 10 minutes to get around them. Ch7 hottie got a puddle shower, and I still laugh about it almost every day when I go over that overpass on my way to work.

I've had my brush with the law many times in the past. I've received a lot more that 15 seconds of night stick beatings (And I have returned the night stick back on them too).

Not that I didn't deserve the beating but one lesson I did learn, is you will not win between a "Typical Jerk A$$wad Cop" and a "Stubborn A$$ Headed Person".

Obviously the news crew hasn't spend enough time on the other side of the cage for days with lumps on there heads.

There are by far more good cops making the right decisions than bad ones.

By looking at the video IMHO, both parties could have handled this better. Both sides may get what they deserve.

I would like to know the whole story. If the people on scene were siding with the officer the reporter must have earned his being told to leave. I wonder if the guy was trying to film someone that was injured and being treated? I could only see a quick part in the video where it looked like fire fighters were hovered around something (person?) but I couldn't tell what.

The media is certainly problematic, but the officer should not let his emotions get that far out. I've had to hold blankets up around both injured and dead people while they are being cared for or removed just to keep them from being video taped. It pisses me off every time I ask the news to stop taping someone injured or dead. If you've never been there you'll never know how disrespectful it feels to see a reporter trying to get a video of someone hurt or dead. Regardless it's not worth overreacting to.

When those reporters ask for details I walk right past them and privately talk to the reporter that was being considerate to the injured or deceased. Of course they don't get it and get upset why I didn't tell them the story. Just smile and waive boys, just smile and waive. LOL!!
