I have a very early V-Bar SN 9226930007. This is the model with the pressure sensor. This system is so old it came in a wooden box. Seriously, I think it was one of the first sold in the USA. It's had a happy life as a display item sitting on a shelf in my shop. I just upgraded one of my newer V-Bar's to Ver. 4.0 and am very happy with the result. I want to do the same with this old horse, but have run into a few problems. Heliplanet.de was quick to come to my aid, but I had no way to show the pictures to help explain my dilemma.

First issue - The serial to USB converter driver software included with this V-Bar only supported Windows OS up through Windows ME. I have access to two PC's and one laptop. Two are running Vista and the third is on XP. I am trying to find the correct driver and got a link from Heliplanet.de, but I have no way of knowing the manufacturer of my converter so finding a driver is near impossible. I have include pics here so that someone may be able to unravel the puzzle for me.

Second issue - The connector that attachs the Ser/USB cable to the V-Bar unit has a six pin plastic jacket connector, but only three pins are used. I cannot tell which side goes up when connecting to the V-Bar unit's interface terminal. I believe there was supposed to be a white dot on the side of this connector to indicate the side that would be up or visible when connected and viewed from the label side of the V-Bar unit. No white dot was ever added to my cable.

Hopefully with the pics, Heliplanet.de or someone else from Mikado can point me in the right direction as I would like to upgrade this system to Version 4.0 and put it to work in an electric powered scale heli.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Cheers - Boyd

You got PN from me.

Driver should be solved.

White dot towards label is ok.

The other one ...

The only pin towards label, the two towards bottom.

I wasn't sure I had given you enough information to correctly identify the Ser/USB converter. I will be more thorough in searching the Wiki in the future.

Danke, Danke.
