Wow, last night I hammered and hammered and finally got my fan off the crankshaft. Now all I need is a new fan mount.

Someone should design a fan puller. I would pay $$ for it.

IT's what I do.

Gear puller works. Got a set of 3 from Harbor Freight for $15 and the smallest one works just fine.

All you had to do was lock the crank and twist the hub off of the crank shaft. The crank nut and pinch bolts lock it to the crank.

Lock isn't a strong enough word...

I tried the twist technique prior to purchasing the gear puller. No dice.

Perhaps i was lucky at removing the fan mount on my trex 600 and trex 700. But what i did on both of them was first i took the clamp screws out of the hub and thread it on the other side that had the thread and then i place a razor blade in between the hub slit and tighten the clamp screws on to the razor blade. I do this on both side of the slit at the same time. This will force the clamp area to spread out and loosen. I then use a heat gun to heat the fan hub and gently pull the hub off the shaft with an oven mitts.
