Nice sounding motor but for us mere mortals and our mortal pocketbooks I think a $185 Hyper with Hatori 522 will do the job fine. I guess there are many that will still pay for the extra performance. But if anyone thinks OS will sit quiet whilst others come out with higher displacement 50's they are kidding themselves...

Maybe it's just me and I haven't seen lukas fly a 50 in a while, but honestly, I didn't see anything in that video to make me want to drop my 50 Hyper. It looks good, but it's not a night and day difference (but I bet the fuel is, due to the large difference :-p ). I'm going to watch lukas fly a 50 and then this video back to back and see if there's a noticeable difference.

I say drop the headspeed down to 2000 and see how it does!

I am sure I could crank my hyper up over 2100 and I may get a few tanks or maybe gallons before it explodes but it will probably sound just the same and perform the same!!

The main problem is That I can't keep the head loaded like the pro's do!!

Hi
After some kindly and appreciate reply, I want just specify friendly some thinks.

1) IMPORTANT anyone is free to buy what they like, and this is the base thinking of my life, if you like some you buy if not or not need don't…. easy....

2) Novarossi mental is not "cheap" , our philosophy is not “still” other company business or marketing, we have always enormous respect for OS, YS, TT because we run the same business with the same passion… in Novarossi we work to make engines with more power (were is possible) and for longer time for how really need that.
Materials, bearing, diagrams, CNC operation and design are some unique for choose, not to reduce the cost, because we desire make and use some unique..

3) Cost is probably little higher compare the competitor, I can agree the fact, but right now is hard to make compare, 2.4 HP from the 57, that power is little different of the actual offer, than if you add the tuning operation that manually we make to each engines you can easy understand the situation “cost”. This means that when you buy a REX is already tuning to get the best power possible....

4) REX 57 3d can run perfectly with any market pipe, Align , Hatori, MP, Outrage…. is not necessary use the REX H5 tuned pipe.... like other brand we choose to make our special tuned pipe to match the 57 performance, that can run as well with the other 50 and 53 engines ..

In the end, I make a friendly question for who compare price and performance.

Question: How much is the cost that some serious tuning guys request for add power (really power - not bing bling or blablabla) to the actual std engines??

My question would be how many gallons should I expect to get out of one? If its going to last longer than the competiion I would be happy to spend the extra. If I should expect the same life span as others, probably not.

Do I need that much power. only in my wild 3D dreams, would I spend the extra $$ to have a cool looking engine that you can only see witih the canpoy off and when you get on yout hands and knees. As much as i like bling, which I do, no I wouldnt, I think they all have appealing coloured heads.

FAA Mission statement. We're not happy until your not happy

I kinda wanted to resurrect this thread because it seems like people are really liking the novarossi. I'm not in the market to buy another 50 engine (yet) but I'm definitely leaning towards the 55. However, the 57 is getting a lot of buzz, but then I thought back about this thread and watching the videos. I'm still NOT impressed with this engine (at least from these videos). Perhaps Lukas wasn't running a pipe that could really put the engine in its sweetspot? I dunno, but I'm still leaning towards the 55 (especially after seeing bert's videos, but admittedly, he runs insane cyclic). Thoughts?

If I had the money, I'd buy both of them and see for myself, but I don't, so I have to choose... ONE!

My CREDIT CARD money is still on the OS 55

Slightly off topic but would that be a Futaba 520 GYRO in that T rex

Cheers
