one way lubrication
i have stripped the main gear and one way hub out of my raptor 30 and made an aluminium shim to take up the excess end float, but i want to lube up the one way bearing when i rebuild it, i went to my local model shop and asked for one way grease but the guy said better to lube it with wd 40 spray, just wondered what you guys think is the best lube

+1 Dont use grease on a one-way bearing. The grease prevents proper movement of the roller bearings. Tri-flow or ATF

No grease. Use like they said Triflow Oil or I use light machine oil (Sewing machine oil) and have never had any problem and also use it to lube the tail shaft and the slider on the main shaft from time to time.Oh No Someone Please Stop Me Before I Go Broke With This Heli Thing!!

For my shuttles, I mixed a little slick 50 with 3 in 1 oil. I'll post here how it works when I check it. Shuttles are great to experiment with.Grabbem-n-baggem

Align puts out a one way graese you can buy at grand rc in the trex 600 parts section. It works good to. I had a club member tell me that he soaks his one ways in transmission fluid to free them up if locked up. I haven't tried it but I am sure it would work wonders.Fly it like you stole it!

transmission fluid here. I went to the local car dealer and they gave me a few drops for free, sufficient for the coming 10 years.

I do a complete soak and flush in ATF, then let drip dry, once a year.
and made an aluminium shim to take up the excess end float
You can loosen the top collar and pull the endplay upward, then re-tighten collar. No need to shim.

hey guys thanks for all the replys, i think oil is the choice of lubrication, swoop my end float was between the circlips on the main gear sleeve you have to shim it out as moving the main shaft collar doesnt take the play out, if thats what you meant ,thanks for your input though colin

From the Manual
Page 7 of the Titan SE Manual states this
It is necessary to add grease inside the one way clutch before your first flight. The clutch might lock up one the grease is gone. The one way grease ( PV0517) or ball differential grease is recommended for this lubrication.
I have heard of the triflow and this oneway grease methods for a long time. Sounds like this needs to be mythbusted! Which is it guys???
I have used triflow periodically for while now with no problems. But that is contrary to the manual. Nothing new about that in a our hobby though.

I've heard good things from others about that one way grease but the fact is those rollers have to move in and out and light machine oil or triflow is what I've had luck with on 4 Raptors over the last 5 years.Andy
