the judge in question calls himself, now get this.....'the queen of all media'.

if you like to spend your 'special time' with a hairy ball sack in your mouth you might want to keep that to yourself.

Another example of the far left. You do have the right of free speech as long as you agree with them. If you don't, well just ask Miss California how she knows that.

Take that with a Liberal Congress, Senate, and President, it will give you an example of whats to come if we don't vote these clowns out of office.

This is a good example of why the left should card themselves as the Intolerant Champions of Tolerance. Anything and everything should be tolerated, as long as it isnt in disagreement with them.

JohnLund,
Can you give some examples of when the right has attempted to stifle free speech?
Thanks.

Honestly I simply don't think it was a fair question to ask in a competition of that nature... It's just too controversial. It's a "one side or the other" kind of question... Either piss off one group, or piss off the opposition.. If I were her, I'd dispute the fact that she was asked such a question. She gave her honest opinion, and that was that. That pageant is about more than just pleasing the judges, and unfortunately she was put in a situation where the judges basically said, "you better answer this to my liking, or you're gonna walk home empty handed."

I'll look into some specific examples for you. The first that came to mind was the religious rights crusade against music they deem unfit.

For once I completely agree with you. This was not a fair question and was only that of someone who is pushing a certain agenda. The issue itself is to polarizing and it was unfortunate because IMO based purely on eye candy, she was the one to beat.

JohnLund,
Ok, I understand your point on that one. Let me ask you a serious question. I am not trying to be a smart-alec, I promise.
Do you believe that any tv or radio station or any billboard company should be allowed to display or air any vulgar language or pornographic images that they like without any limits?

I normally don't condone gay bashing but I'd make an exception for Hilton. What an idiot!
And thanks to the author of the article for including the swimsuit picture!

Of course not, but I don't think it's the federal governments place to legislate that, I'd leave it to the states. My example though didn't have anything to do with billboards, radio, or TV, as most of the music they single out doesn't get a lot of public airtime, much less TV, or billboards. Though to be honest, at least one of the groups such as the PMRC, while filled with conservatives, was founded by Tipper Gore, Al's husband, er, sorry, wife.

I take offense to that, there may very well be people in the PMRC who label themselves conservatives but there is nothing Conservative about the PMRC's positions. That was a movement of zealots who wish to dictate to others what they should do. Even if they argue it on religious grounds most Conservatives may not like it but arent into dictating what others do.

I will say though the the calls from some on the religious right calling liberals who criticized Bush on the was unpatriotic. It very well may be it they have their right to their opinion.

BACK TO BASICS
Romans One

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Oh, I agree with you, I was just making the point that there has been times when people to the right have tried to stifle free speech, the license to quell our rights isn't held exclusively by the left. You won't hear an argument from me about the liberals and their lack of respect for the 1st Amendment.

it is amazing that this woman, who would have otherwise won, has had her life course changed due to a question about gay marriage.

this helps to prove how far we have fallen.

it's gettin' better every day.
